Plumb Medic is my go to for water leaks and other plumbing issues. I have used them on multiple occasions to solve tricky issues that are typical of older homes. They were quick to come out and assess and quick to complete the project. Cameron, Cole, and Corey were polite, diligent, and frankly good at what they do. Happily recommend Plumb Medic to others and will use them should I have a new issue arise.

I rely on reviews a good bit but rarely write them. The glowing reviews are what led me to call Cameron/Plumb Medic LLC to get an estimate for installing a new Toto toilet that I ordered and had sitting in boxes in my hallway to replace my 43 year old Briggs toilet, yes 43 years ! Cameron returned my call immediately, was very knowledgeable and gave me a price that beat 2 other local plumbing companies even offering a discount for 2 toilets at once. I only had the one but am expecting delivery tomorrow for the second one. Cain and Eric came the next day to install my toilet. They were down to earth, easy to talk to , professional hardworking guys that knew their stuff! Plus, they are animal lovers like myself. I can honestly say that it was a pleasure having them at my house. They installed my new Toto and I plan to try to request them for the second Toto install. After using numerous plumbers/plumbing companies through the years I am happy and relieved to have found Plumb Medic and plan on making them my "go to " plumbers. This may sound odd but I do love my Toto !!! Barb Above review was several years ago. This 2nd review is from March 13 2026. Cameron and Corey came and installed a new Bradford White water heater for me. They did an exceptional job with attention to detail. Cameron noticed water seeping from an old connection above his work, accessed it and made the repair at no extra cost. I asked about replacing my 40 plus year old handle on the main water shut off to house at back of basement. Cameron was thoughtful enough to suggest that he could move it lower so I could reach it without a ladder -hopefully I won’t ever need to. He replaced it with a ball valve handle which is superior to the old school round handle that exterior faucets use and gave me a discount since they were installing the water heater. I couldn’t have asked for a more pleasant experience. Plumb Medic , Cameron and crew are the BEST.

Cain and Eric were schedule to come and replace a weird leaking outdoor faucet and replace some stuff in a bathroom. They did this in the usual timely and professional manner. They noticed an indoor leak and opened the wall to find a bigger problem. Thank goodness and a mitigation company was called. At the same time I had a sewer problem and they quickly got Cole out to ream and camera the sewer. Highly recommend this service.

Called Plumb Medic after I got a 1300 water bill assuming I had a leak. Cole came out in a POURING rainstorm. Checked our meter outside getting soaked several times after shutting off house water, and came back to tell me we had no leak and there was no charge. I was shocked he would come out and not charge me. I will use Plumb Medic in the future for every plumbing issue. That’s amazing customer service.

We encountered the dreaded, dirty rusty water in our sinks and tubs and knew we needed to replace our water heater. I called Plumb Medic and after a brief discussion we were scheduled for a new install 2 days later. They were on time, on budget and the area was spic-and-span when they finished up. The quality of the joints and connections of the new copper piping needed was impressive - it was like a work of art. They were friendly, professional, honest and super easy and comfortable to do business with. I can highly recommend Plumb Medic without reservation!!

Plumb Medic was great to work with. We had a water issue and they came out quickly, figured out exactly what was going on, and explained everything clearly along the way. The technician was patient, knowledgeable, and really on top of his work. He also referred us to a water remediation company to dry out the affected areas, which made the whole situation much easier to handle. I really appreciated the professionalism and friendliness they showed throughout the process. Overall, a very good experience and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again or recommend them.

The entire experience was great from start to finish. It started with a phone call with Cameron. He gave me an estimate and when I mentioned I was getting estimates from other businesses he provided me with several questions to ask them. Next step was an in person estimate. Cole came out, gave an estimate then emailed me what we had discussed. When Cole came out with one other person (I forget his name) they were early, finished the work soner than they said, cleaned up then the bill was what we were quoted. Great service, great people and reasonable prices. I would recommend them to everyone adn will use the again when we need them.

We have used Plumb Medic several times over the years for our plumbing needs. Cameron and his team have always been honest and professional. Recently we had a toilet installed in which Cameron himself came out and installed. He arrived within the window he promised given the busy holiday season, which is extremely rare these days. There were some defects with toilet we purchased from Home Depot, which caused the install to take longer than expected. He had mentioned prior to coming out that his kid had a Christmas program that day, but should be able to install the toilet in time. Due to the toilet defect I’m pretty sure he missed his kid’s performance, which killed me inside. I wished he would have told me, because I would have told him to go and come back tomorrow. This just proves Cameron’s dedication to his craft and his customers. We appreciate him and his family for his dedication and highly recommend him and his team to anyone who has plumbing needs. Thank you again Cameron and we wish you and your family a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Leak Detection in Woodstock, GA

Leaks develop in many places throughout home plumbing systems, each requiring different detection approaches. Slab leaks under concrete floors are particularly challenging since the leak source is hidden by inches of concrete. Wall leaks behind drywall hide until water damage becomes visible, often after significant damage has occurred. Underground leaks on water service lines or irrigation systems waste water without obvious signs except higher bills. Pinhole leaks on copper pipes create small but persistent water release that compounds over time. Each leak type calls for specific detection methods. Plumb Medic technicians match equipment and techniques to the suspected leak situation.

Acoustic leak detection uses specialized listening equipment to hear water escaping under pressure. Pressurized water creates distinctive sounds at leak points that trained ears can identify through walls, floors, and concrete. Ground microphones for outdoor leak detection reach down to buried water lines. Wall and floor microphones identify leak locations in finished spaces without invasive work. Our technicians compare sound patterns at multiple points to triangulate leak positions accurately. Noise from traffic, appliances, or HVAC systems sometimes complicates acoustic detection, requiring patience and technique adjustments.

Thermal imaging cameras detect temperature differences caused by water leaks. Cold water leaks create cool spots on surfaces compared to surrounding areas. Hot water leaks create warm spots visible through cameras. Slab leaks affect floor surface temperatures, with the difference often subtle but detectable. Wall leaks behind drywall sometimes show through paint as temperature variations. Plumb Medic uses thermal cameras alongside other detection methods, since each technique has strengths and limitations. Combining methods produces more accurate diagnosis than any single approach.

Moisture meters measure water content in materials directly. Pin meters insert small probes into materials to read moisture levels. Pinless meters scan surfaces without penetration, useful for finished walls and floors. Higher moisture readings near suspected leak areas confirm water presence. Mapping moisture levels across an area helps identify leak source by tracing water flow patterns. Our team uses moisture meters during initial assessment and after repair to verify drying. Documentation of moisture readings supports insurance claims and restoration coordination.

Pressure testing identifies whether leaks exist on isolated systems before searching for specific locations. Closing shutoff valves on sections allows pressure decay testing on individual lines. A drop in pressure over time indicates a leak somewhere in the isolated section. This method narrows down which lines have problems before expensive detection work begins. For supply line leaks, pressure testing is especially valuable. Combined with leak detection equipment, pressure testing efficiently locates problems with minimum exploration.

Slab leak detection involves specialized techniques for concrete floor situations. Symptoms include unexplained water bills, warm spots on floors from hot water leaks, sounds of running water with no fixtures open, and visible water seeping through slabs. Our team uses electronic equipment that listens through concrete to identify leak locations. Once located, repair options include spot repair through limited slab access, rerouting pipes through walls and ceilings to bypass the slab section, or full repipe of the affected line. Plumb Medic explains options clearly with associated costs.

Outdoor leak detection on water service lines and irrigation systems presents unique challenges. Buried lines may run for hundreds of feet between the meter and the home, with leaks anywhere along the route. Ground microphones identify acoustic signatures of leaks through soil. Pressure testing isolates which sections have problems. Sometimes excavation is needed to confirm leak location after acoustic identification narrows the area. Plumb Medic minimizes excavation through careful detection work. Restoring landscaping after necessary excavation is part of our project completion.

Why Hire A Licensed Plumber For Your Leak Detection

Professional leak detection saves significant money compared to exploratory damage that DIY attempts often create. Plumb Medic technicians use commercial-grade detection equipment that homeowners cannot rent or afford to purchase. Acoustic detectors, thermal imaging cameras, and moisture meters represent significant investments that licensed plumbers maintain and operate skillfully. Our training in interpreting equipment readings produces accurate diagnoses, while inexperienced users often misinterpret signals. DIY exploratory work commonly damages walls, floors, and finishes searching for leaks in wrong locations. Insurance claims for leak damage often require documented professional detection to be approved. The waived diagnostic fee on repairs, military and senior discounts, and Wisetack financing make professional service affordable. Plumb Medic provides reports, photos, and detailed documentation that support insurance claim processing. Calling a licensed plumber for leak detection minimizes total damage costs while maximizing repair effectiveness. Quality detection prevents unnecessary destruction during repair access work.

Most Common Leak Detection Questions

Leak detection raises practical questions about cost, accuracy, and what to expect during the process. Below are clear answers to the questions Woodstock homeowners ask most often before scheduling detection service.

Leak detection costs vary based on leak type, location, and equipment needed. Standard residential leak detection typically runs $200 to $500 for accessible problems. Complex situations involving multiple suspected leaks, slab work, or outdoor service lines can range from $400 to $900. Comprehensive detection on large properties or commercial buildings costs more due to additional time and equipment needs. Plumb Medic provides upfront pricing based on the suspected situation. Our experience helps estimate accurately during initial conversations.

Several factors affect the final detection cost. Slab leak detection generally costs more than accessible wall or floor leaks due to the equipment and expertise required. Underground leak location on long service lines takes more time than detection on short interior lines. Multiple suspected leaks add time and complexity. After-hours emergency service carries higher rates, though pricing remains transparent. Combining detection with the repair itself often provides better value than separate visits.

The diagnostic fee is waived when we handle the repair, which means detection costs effectively apply toward the repair work. Customers who proceed with repairs after detection essentially get the detection service free. Wisetack financing covers comprehensive detection plus repair projects. Military and senior discounts apply to all services. Insurance coverage sometimes applies to detection costs when claims relate to water damage. Plumb Medic provides documentation that supports insurance claim processing. Honest pricing with no surprise charges has earned us strong reputation across Woodstock.

Modern leak detection equipment locates problems with minimum invasive work. Acoustic detectors hear water escaping under pressure through walls, floors, and concrete without any access work. Thermal imaging cameras see temperature variations caused by leaks through finished surfaces. Moisture meters measure water content in materials without significant damage. Pressure testing on isolated systems identifies leak locations through plumbing rather than building exploration. Combined methods produce accurate diagnoses without breaking through walls or floors.

Several specific techniques minimize building damage. Pressurized line testing isolates leak sources to specific runs before detection work begins. Tracer gas, when used, requires only small access points for introduction and detection. Camera inspection through existing access points like cleanouts shows pipe interior conditions without any new access. Locating suspected leaks within a few inches before any access work prevents unnecessary holes. When access is required, we open only the minimum area needed for repair.

Plumb Medic emphasizes accurate detection specifically to minimize repair damage. Our equipment investment reflects commitment to professional service that protects customer homes. Trained technicians interpret equipment readings correctly, distinguishing leak signals from background noise or interference. Documentation of detection findings supports insurance claims and provides records for future reference. Customers consistently report satisfaction with detection accuracy and minimal property impact. Our process protects walls, floors, ceilings, and landscaping during the diagnostic phase.

Several signs indicate hidden leaks that need professional detection. Unexplained increases in water bills are often the first clue, especially when usage habits have not changed. Sounds of running water when no fixtures are open suggest hidden leaks somewhere in the system. Damp spots, stains, or discoloration on walls, ceilings, or floors point to leak locations. Warm spots on floors indicate hot water leaks under slabs. Mildew or musty smells without obvious sources often relate to hidden water issues.

Outdoor signs sometimes indicate leaks on supply lines or irrigation systems. Wet patches in yards that stay damp regardless of weather suggest underground leaks. Unusually green areas of grass or landscaping in patterns suggest buried water release. Sinkholes or depressions in ground over time may indicate water washing soil away under the surface. Higher water bills without obvious cause warrant investigation of outdoor systems too. Each sign deserves prompt professional attention to prevent escalating damage.

Plumb Medic responds to leak suspicions quickly to prevent damage progression. Our 24/7 availability means help is always available for urgent situations. The waived diagnostic fee on repairs encourages prompt response to suspected leaks. Documentation of findings supports insurance claims when damage has already occurred. Some leaks remain small for long periods before suddenly worsening, while others compound damage over months or years. Catching leaks early always costs less than waiting until major damage develops. Customers who address concerns promptly avoid expensive emergencies.

Slab leaks present specific symptoms worth recognizing. Warm spots on floors are one of the most distinctive signs, indicating hot water leaks under the concrete. The temperature difference may be subtle but is often detectable when walking barefoot. Sounds of running water when no fixtures are open suggest leaks somewhere in the system, with slab leaks being likely culprits when no visible source exists. Higher water bills without changed usage point to hidden leaks, including slab problems.

Several other signs commonly accompany slab leaks. Cracks in foundation walls or floor surfaces sometimes appear as water washes away supporting soil. Damp spots on flooring, especially carpet, point to water reaching the surface from below. Mildew or musty smells from flooring suggest moisture from beneath. Buckling or warping of wood floors over slabs indicates moisture damage. Reduced water pressure throughout the home occasionally relates to slab leaks affecting supply line capacity.

Plumb Medic uses electronic equipment specifically designed for slab leak detection. Acoustic listening through concrete identifies leak locations precisely. Thermal imaging shows temperature patterns indicating leak positions. Pressure testing on isolated lines confirms which line has the leak before detection work begins. Our diagnostic process minimizes slab access during repair. Customers benefit from accurate detection that targets repair work to specific small areas rather than extensive concrete demolition. The investment in proper detection equipment pays off through dramatically reduced repair scope.

Several causes lead to leak development in residential plumbing systems. Age is the biggest factor for many leaks, with materials gradually deteriorating over decades. Pipe corrosion progresses from inside or outside until failures occur. Galvanized steel pipes corrode internally over decades, with rust scale eventually causing pinholes. Copper pipes can develop pinhole leaks from aggressive water chemistry, electrolysis, or high water velocity. Polybutylene pipes from the late 1970s through mid-1990s are particularly prone to failure.

Several environmental and use factors accelerate leak development. High water pressure beyond 80 PSI stresses pipes, fittings, and fixtures continuously. Hard water deposits build up on internal pipe walls, contributing to corrosion. Acidic water with low pH attacks copper pipes specifically. Freezing temperatures expand water in pipes, splitting them at weak points. Physical damage from settling structures, construction work, or yard activities causes immediate failures. Each factor adds to total leak risk over time.

Plumb Medic identifies leak causes during diagnosis, which helps prevent recurrence. Sometimes addressing the root cause matters more than just repairing the visible leak. Pressure regulators correct excessive pressure problems. Water softeners address hardness issues. Repipe with modern materials replaces aging pipe systems prone to ongoing problems. Our recommendations balance immediate repair needs with long-term solutions. Customers benefit from understanding why leaks developed and how to prevent future problems. Quality work addresses both symptoms and causes when appropriate.

Yes, leaks cause significant structural damage when allowed to continue over time. Wood framing absorbs water, swelling and weakening as moisture content rises. Subfloors, ceiling joists, and wall studs all suffer from prolonged water exposure. Load-bearing capacity decreases as wood deteriorates, eventually creating safety concerns in severe cases. Foundation damage from leaks can be particularly serious, affecting the entire home’s structural integrity. Each day of continued leakage compounds the damage.

Beyond direct structural damage, leaks create conditions for additional problems. Mold growth in damp areas affects health and damages building materials. Black mold specifically requires professional remediation when found, adding significant cost. Insulation that gets wet loses thermal effectiveness and harbors mold growth. Drywall, paneling, and trim damaged by water typically require replacement rather than repair. Carpet and pad almost always need replacement after significant water exposure. Restoration costs often exceed plumbing repair costs significantly.

Plumb Medic emphasizes prompt leak response to limit structural damage. Our 24/7 emergency response addresses urgent situations immediately. Detection accuracy minimizes repair access damage. Documentation supports insurance claims for water damage restoration. Coordination with restoration companies ensures plumbing repairs proceed alongside drying and reconstruction work. The total cost of professional response is far lower than waiting until damage becomes severe. Customers protect their homes and investments by addressing leaks promptly. Insurance coverage often applies to sudden leak damage, making professional response affordable.

Most homeowner insurance policies cover sudden and accidental water damage, including leak-related damage in many cases. Burst pipes, sudden failures, and unexpected water damage are typically covered. Gradual leaks that occurred over time are sometimes excluded, though policies vary significantly. Damage from poor maintenance or neglected problems may face coverage denial. Each policy has specific terms, deductibles, and exclusions that affect claims. Reviewing your specific policy helps understand coverage details.

Documentation supports successful insurance claims significantly. Photos of damage taken before any cleanup or repair work begins are essential. Plumb Medic provides detailed reports, photos, and itemized invoices that support claim processing. We document the cause of failure when it can be determined, helping adjusters understand the situation. Coverage usually includes both the plumbing repair and water damage restoration, though policies vary. Some policies exclude certain pipe materials or causes; reviewing your policy before emergencies helps you understand coverage.

Plumb Medic works with homeowners throughout the claims process. Our reports use clear language adjusters can interpret without difficulty. We respond to questions from insurance companies promptly and provide additional documentation when requested. Direct payment arrangements with insurance companies are sometimes possible for restoration work. Wisetack financing covers situations where claims are pending or coverage gaps exist. The diagnostic fee is waived when we handle repairs, regardless of insurance status. Our goal is making the entire process as smooth as possible during a stressful time.

Suspected leaks deserve prompt professional response to prevent damage progression. Active leaks should receive same-day response when possible, since each hour of continued leaking adds to damage costs. Suspected leaks based on unexplained water bills or other indirect signs warrant scheduling within a few days. Delayed response allows damage to compound, with mold growth beginning within 24 to 48 hours of water exposure. Structural damage progresses more gradually but accumulates over weeks and months of continued leakage.

Several factors affect appropriate response urgency. Active visible leaks demand immediate response, particularly when water is reaching electrical components or saturating large areas. Slab leaks below the home should be addressed quickly even when symptoms are mild, since foundation damage can develop. Outdoor leaks on supply lines waste water continuously, with bills mounting until repair occurs. Drain leaks may seem less urgent but cause damage over time and create sanitation concerns.

Plumb Medic responds quickly to leak detection requests. Same-day appointments are typically available for active leak situations. Our 24/7 emergency response covers urgent problems any time of day or night. Routine leak detection on suspected but not confirmed leaks usually schedules within a day or two. The waived diagnostic fee on repairs encourages prompt response. Customers benefit from quick action through reduced damage and lower total costs. Our team understands the urgency leaks create and prioritizes scheduling accordingly. Calling early always produces better outcomes than waiting.
