Plumb Medic is my go to for water leaks and other plumbing issues. I have used them on multiple occasions to solve tricky issues that are typical of older homes. They were quick to come out and assess and quick to complete the project. Cameron, Cole, and Corey were polite, diligent, and frankly good at what they do. Happily recommend Plumb Medic to others and will use them should I have a new issue arise.

I rely on reviews a good bit but rarely write them. The glowing reviews are what led me to call Cameron/Plumb Medic LLC to get an estimate for installing a new Toto toilet that I ordered and had sitting in boxes in my hallway to replace my 43 year old Briggs toilet, yes 43 years ! Cameron returned my call immediately, was very knowledgeable and gave me a price that beat 2 other local plumbing companies even offering a discount for 2 toilets at once. I only had the one but am expecting delivery tomorrow for the second one. Cain and Eric came the next day to install my toilet. They were down to earth, easy to talk to , professional hardworking guys that knew their stuff! Plus, they are animal lovers like myself. I can honestly say that it was a pleasure having them at my house. They installed my new Toto and I plan to try to request them for the second Toto install. After using numerous plumbers/plumbing companies through the years I am happy and relieved to have found Plumb Medic and plan on making them my "go to " plumbers. This may sound odd but I do love my Toto !!! Barb Above review was several years ago. This 2nd review is from March 13 2026. Cameron and Corey came and installed a new Bradford White water heater for me. They did an exceptional job with attention to detail. Cameron noticed water seeping from an old connection above his work, accessed it and made the repair at no extra cost. I asked about replacing my 40 plus year old handle on the main water shut off to house at back of basement. Cameron was thoughtful enough to suggest that he could move it lower so I could reach it without a ladder -hopefully I won’t ever need to. He replaced it with a ball valve handle which is superior to the old school round handle that exterior faucets use and gave me a discount since they were installing the water heater. I couldn’t have asked for a more pleasant experience. Plumb Medic , Cameron and crew are the BEST.

Cain and Eric were schedule to come and replace a weird leaking outdoor faucet and replace some stuff in a bathroom. They did this in the usual timely and professional manner. They noticed an indoor leak and opened the wall to find a bigger problem. Thank goodness and a mitigation company was called. At the same time I had a sewer problem and they quickly got Cole out to ream and camera the sewer. Highly recommend this service.

Called Plumb Medic after I got a 1300 water bill assuming I had a leak. Cole came out in a POURING rainstorm. Checked our meter outside getting soaked several times after shutting off house water, and came back to tell me we had no leak and there was no charge. I was shocked he would come out and not charge me. I will use Plumb Medic in the future for every plumbing issue. That’s amazing customer service.

Plumb Medic was great to work with. We had a water issue and they came out quickly, figured out exactly what was going on, and explained everything clearly along the way. The technician was patient, knowledgeable, and really on top of his work. He also referred us to a water remediation company to dry out the affected areas, which made the whole situation much easier to handle. I really appreciated the professionalism and friendliness they showed throughout the process. Overall, a very good experience and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again or recommend them.

The entire experience was great from start to finish. It started with a phone call with Cameron. He gave me an estimate and when I mentioned I was getting estimates from other businesses he provided me with several questions to ask them. Next step was an in person estimate. Cole came out, gave an estimate then emailed me what we had discussed. When Cole came out with one other person (I forget his name) they were early, finished the work soner than they said, cleaned up then the bill was what we were quoted. Great service, great people and reasonable prices. I would recommend them to everyone adn will use the again when we need them.

We have used Plumb Medic several times over the years for our plumbing needs. Cameron and his team have always been honest and professional. Recently we had a toilet installed in which Cameron himself came out and installed. He arrived within the window he promised given the busy holiday season, which is extremely rare these days. There were some defects with toilet we purchased from Home Depot, which caused the install to take longer than expected. He had mentioned prior to coming out that his kid had a Christmas program that day, but should be able to install the toilet in time. Due to the toilet defect I’m pretty sure he missed his kid’s performance, which killed me inside. I wished he would have told me, because I would have told him to go and come back tomorrow. This just proves Cameron’s dedication to his craft and his customers. We appreciate him and his family for his dedication and highly recommend him and his team to anyone who has plumbing needs. Thank you again Cameron and we wish you and your family a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Sump Pump Installation in Woodstock, GA

Sump pump systems collect groundwater in pits below floor level and pump it away from the home. The pump activates when water reaches a specific level, removing it through discharge pipes to outside locations. Properly designed systems handle expected groundwater volumes during normal conditions and storm events. Plumb Medic evaluates each installation site to specify appropriate equipment. Quality installation upfront prevents flooding problems that damaged homes face during heavy rain or rising groundwater conditions.

Pump selection depends on several factors specific to each home. Pumping capacity rated in gallons per minute or gallons per hour must match expected water volumes. Vertical lift, called head, affects how much water the pump can move efficiently. Pump horsepower ratings indicate motor power, with 1/3 to 1/2 horsepower typical for residential applications. Submersible pumps mount inside sump pits, while pedestal pumps have motors above water level. Each design has specific advantages for different situations.

Sump pit preparation is critical for reliable system operation. Pit size must accommodate the pump and provide enough water volume for proper cycling. Inadequate pit size causes pumps to cycle too frequently, shortening pump life. Excessive pit size allows water to sit too long, potentially causing odors. Plumb Medic ensures pits meet manufacturer specifications for selected pumps. Liner materials in pits prevent silt and debris from affecting pump operation.

Check valves prevent pumped water from flowing back into the sump pit when pumps stop. Quality check valves operate quietly and reliably for years. Proper installation orientation ensures correct valve operation. Sometimes both internal and external check valves protect against backflow. Plumb Medic installs appropriate check valves as standard practice. Quality valves prevent the cycling problems and pump strain that cheap valves create over time.

Discharge piping carries pumped water from sump pits to discharge locations outside. Pipe sizing must match pump capacity to prevent restriction. PVC piping is standard for indoor portions and outdoor sections protected from freezing. Discharge points must direct water away from foundation rather than back toward the home. Local codes may specify minimum distance from foundation or specific drainage requirements. Plumb Medic plans discharge routes to comply with codes while protecting your home effectively.

Battery backup systems protect against power outages that often coincide with flooding events. Severe storms cause power outages while simultaneously creating high groundwater conditions, exactly when pumps are needed most. Battery backup pumps operate from sealed batteries, providing several hours of pumping during outages. Smart systems alert homeowners when battery operation occurs or when batteries need charging. Plumb Medic installs battery backup systems alongside primary pumps for comprehensive protection. The investment pays off through preventing flooding during the most critical times.

Water-powered backup pumps offer alternative protection without batteries. These systems use municipal water pressure to create suction that removes sump water during primary pump failure. No battery maintenance needs, no electrical requirements during outages, and unlimited runtime make water-powered backups appealing for some installations. They use significant water during operation, which becomes part of utility billing. Plumb Medic discusses backup options based on specific home situations and customer preferences.

Alarm systems alert homeowners to high water conditions or pump failures. Float switches or sensors trigger alarms when water rises above normal levels. Some systems include cellular or wifi connectivity for remote alerts when homeowners are away. Battery backup ensures alarms function during power outages. Plumb Medic installs alarm systems alongside pumps for early warning of problems. The relatively modest cost provides significant peace of mind, particularly for second homes or extended travel situations.

Why Hire A Licensed Plumber For Your Sump Pump Installation

Professional sump pump installation prevents leaks, electrical problems, and code violations that DIY work commonly creates. Plumb Medic technicians know how to handle the combination of plumbing and electrical work safely and correctly. We evaluate your specific situation and recommend appropriate equipment for actual conditions. Improper installation causes pump failures during the critical times protection is most needed. Discharge piping mistakes direct water back toward foundations, potentially worsening problems instead of solving them. Code requirements include specific electrical connections, GFCI protection, and discharge specifications that licensed plumbers understand. The waived diagnostic fee, military and senior discounts, and Wisetack financing make professional service affordable. Plumb Medic provides upfront pricing, project planning, and warranty coverage on completed installations. Calling a licensed plumber for sump pump installation protects your home from flooding damage that could cost tens of thousands of dollars. Quality installation provides reliable protection when you need it most.

Most Common Sump Pump Installation Questions

Sump pump installation raises practical questions about cost, sizing, and what makes systems reliable. Below are clear answers to the questions Woodstock homeowners ask most often before scheduling installation.

Sump pump installation costs vary based on equipment, situation complexity, and additional features. Standard primary pump installation in existing sump pits typically runs $700 to $1,500 including the pump and basic plumbing work. New sump pit installation in basements without existing pits costs significantly more, often $1,500 to $3,500 due to concrete work involved. Battery backup systems add $700 to $1,500 to base installation costs. Water-powered backup systems run $1,000 to $2,000 in addition to primary pump costs.

Several factors affect total installation costs. Pump quality and capacity affect equipment costs significantly, with premium pumps from major manufacturers commanding higher prices but providing longer service life. Discharge piping length and complexity affect labor and material requirements. Electrical work for new installations sometimes requires electrician services in addition to plumbing work. Concrete cutting for new sump pit installations adds substantial costs. Each factor gets evaluated honestly during project planning.

The diagnostic fee is waived when we handle the installation, keeping costs lower. Wisetack financing covers sump pump projects through manageable monthly payments. Military and senior discounts apply to all installations. Insurance coverage sometimes applies when sudden failures cause flooding damage. The investment in quality installation pays off through preventing flooding damage that can cost tens of thousands of dollars to remediate. Plumb Medic provides transparent pricing with no surprise charges. Customers consistently report satisfaction with both pricing and protection from our installations.

Several factors indicate sump pumps would benefit specific homes. Basements that have flooded previously are obvious candidates for protection. Crawl spaces with standing water or moisture problems benefit from sump pumps. Homes in areas with high water tables face groundwater intrusion risks. Properties with poor exterior drainage that allows water near foundations need protection. Each situation argues for sump pump installation.

Several specific signs indicate sump pump needs even without obvious flooding history. Damp basement floors or walls suggest groundwater pressure against foundations. Efflorescence, the white powdery substance on basement walls, indicates moisture moving through concrete. Musty smells in basements or crawl spaces signal moisture problems. Cracks in foundation walls sometimes relate to hydrostatic pressure that sump pumps reduce. Mold growth in lower levels of homes warrants sump pump consideration as part of moisture management.

Plumb Medic evaluates specific homes during consultation visits. Sometimes existing waterproofing measures reduce sump pump needs, while other situations clearly call for installation. We discuss options honestly, including waterproofing alternatives that might reduce or eliminate need for sump pumps. The investment in proactive sump pump installation costs far less than flooding damage remediation. Insurance coverage for water damage often requires reasonable steps to prevent flooding, which sump pumps satisfy. Customer benefits extend beyond just flood prevention to include moisture control and overall basement comfort.

Quality sump pumps typically last 7 to 12 years with proper installation and reasonable use. Premium pumps from manufacturers like Zoeller and Liberty often reach 12 to 15 years when conditions are favorable. Budget pumps sometimes fail within 3 to 5 years, especially in heavy use applications. Pump usage affects lifespan, with frequent cycling shortening pump life. Quality of installation matters significantly, with proper pit sizing and check valve installation extending pump life.

Several factors affect actual pump lifespan. Water quality affects internal components, with sediment and debris causing wear. Power surges and electrical issues can damage pumps suddenly. Cycling frequency affects motor wear, with proper pit sizing reducing unnecessary cycling. Float switch failures sometimes occur before main pump failures. Heavy use during wet seasons or unusual conditions stresses pumps more than light use. Each factor contributes to total pump service life.

Plumb Medic recommends quality pumps with appropriate warranties for specific situations. Manufacturer warranties typically cover 3 to 5 years on quality pumps, with extended warranties available on premium models. Our installation work supports warranty coverage by ensuring proper installation conditions. Maintenance services extend pump life through proper care. Periodic testing verifies pump operation before emergencies. Replacement before complete failure prevents flooding emergencies. Customers benefit from honest assessments of pump condition and remaining service life during inspections.

Sump pump sizing depends on water volume expected, vertical lift to discharge point, and discharge pipe length. Pumping capacity rated in gallons per minute must exceed expected water flow during peak conditions. Standard residential applications typically use pumps rated 35 to 50 gallons per minute for 1/3 horsepower units, or 50 to 75 gallons per minute for 1/2 horsepower units. Vertical lift, called head, reduces effective pumping capacity. Each foot of lift reduces capacity, with manufacturer charts showing performance at various head heights.

Several factors affect specific sizing decisions. Sump pit size affects how often pumps cycle, with smaller pits requiring more frequent cycling that shortens pump life. Discharge pipe diameter affects flow rate, with restrictive pipes reducing capacity. Distance to discharge point affects total head calculations through friction losses. Climate factors including expected rainfall and groundwater patterns influence capacity needs. Plumb Medic evaluates these factors during system design.

Plumb Medic recommends pump sizes based on specific situations rather than generic averages. Undersized pumps fail to keep up during heavy water events, allowing flooding. Oversized pumps cycle too quickly, shortening life through wear. The right size matches actual conditions with appropriate safety margin. Our experience across many installations informs accurate sizing decisions. Quality pumps from established manufacturers provide reliable performance when properly sized for the application. Customers benefit from professional sizing recommendations rather than generic store-bought solutions that may not match specific conditions.

Battery backup systems provide critical protection during power outages, which often coincide with flooding events. Severe storms that cause flooding frequently disrupt power, exactly when sump pumps are needed most. Without battery backup, a 12-hour power outage during heavy rain can result in flooded basements regardless of how well primary pumps work normally. Battery backup pumps operate independently of household electricity, providing several hours of pumping capacity during outages.

Several factors influence battery backup installation decisions. Power outage frequency in specific areas affects need urgency. Flooding history in specific homes indicates risk levels. Insurance coverage requirements sometimes specify backup systems for certain situations. Cost considerations include initial installation plus ongoing battery replacement every 3 to 5 years. Maintenance requirements include periodic testing and water level checks on flooded batteries. Each factor contributes to backup system value assessment.

Plumb Medic recommends battery backup systems for most flooding-vulnerable homes. The investment provides significant protection during the most critical times. Smart battery backup systems alert homeowners when battery operation begins or batteries need attention. Cellular and wifi connectivity provides remote alerts for homes occupied seasonally or during travel. Quality battery backup systems from manufacturers like Basement Watchdog and Liberty provide reliable protection for years. Wisetack financing makes backup systems accessible alongside primary pump installation. Our recommendations match actual flood risk and customer preferences rather than always pushing maximum protection regardless of need.

Standard sump pump installation typically takes 2 to 4 hours when existing sump pits are present. Replacing primary pumps in established systems often completes in under 2 hours. Installing battery backup systems alongside existing pumps usually takes 2 to 3 hours. New sump pit installation with concrete cutting requires 1 to 2 days due to the additional work involved. Plumb Medic provides accurate time estimates during scheduling.

Several factors affect actual installation time. Existing sump pit condition affects whether modification or replacement is needed during pump installation. Discharge pipe configuration may need updates during installation. Electrical work for new installations sometimes adds time, particularly when GFCI protection or new circuits are required. Concrete cutting for new pit installations adds substantial time and complexity. Surface restoration after concrete work extends total project duration.

Same-day installation is available for most jobs scheduled in advance. Emergency situations involving failed pumps during active flooding get priority response. Our trucks carry common installation parts and quality pumps, reducing parts run delays for routine installations. The complete process includes evaluating existing conditions, selecting appropriate equipment, performing installation, testing operation, and completing final connections. Final testing verifies pump operation under actual conditions before completion. Customers receive a working sump pump system plus warranty documentation.

Sump pump installation involves both plumbing and electrical work, making it more complex than many homeowners realize. The plumbing connections include sump pit preparation, pump positioning, check valve installation, and discharge pipe routing. Electrical connections require proper outlets with GFCI protection in some applications. Code compliance affects multiple aspects of installation. Each step has potential for errors that cause pump failures, leaks, or safety issues.

Several common DIY problems affect sump pump installations. Improper pit sizing causes pumps to cycle too frequently or sit in too much water. Wrong pump selection for specific conditions creates inadequate protection. Incorrect discharge piping directs water back toward foundations rather than safely away. Float switch positioning errors cause unreliable operation or pump damage from running dry. Electrical issues range from missing GFCI protection to improper grounding. Each problem causes failures or safety issues.

Plumb Medic makes professional installation accessible through transparent pricing, financing, and discounts. The diagnostic fee is waived when we handle the work, and our installations are backed by warranty. Manufacturer warranties on quality pumps often require professional installation to remain valid. The total cost difference between DIY and professional installation is smaller than people expect once tools, time, and risk factors are included. Calling a licensed plumber is often the better value, especially when considering protection from flooding damage. Our work ensures everything functions properly when most needed, which is the entire point of having a sump pump.

Sump pumps require periodic maintenance for reliable operation. Annual testing verifies pump activation by adding water to the pit until the float triggers operation. Listening for unusual sounds during operation identifies developing problems. Visual inspection of the pump, float switch, and discharge piping catches obvious issues. Cleaning the sump pit annually removes silt and debris that can affect pump operation. Battery backup systems need additional maintenance including battery testing and replacement.

Several specific maintenance tasks extend pump life and reliability. Float switches sometimes need cleaning or adjustment to ensure proper operation. Check valves can develop leaks or sticking that affect system performance. Discharge pipes need inspection for clogs, freezing damage, or settling that affects discharge points. Battery backup systems need water level checks for flooded batteries and connection cleaning. Quality pumps from major manufacturers come with maintenance guides specifying recommended procedures.

Plumb Medic offers maintenance services that keep sump pump systems reliable. Annual inspection includes operational testing, component evaluation, and recommendations for any needed work. The waived diagnostic fee on follow-up repairs encourages prompt response to identified issues. Documentation of maintenance work provides records for warranty purposes. Periodic professional service costs far less than replacement after pump failure causes flooding. Customers who maintain sump pump systems regularly avoid most flooding emergencies. Our maintenance approach matches manufacturer recommendations while addressing specific situations that affect individual homes.
