Plumb Medic is my go to for water leaks and other plumbing issues. I have used them on multiple occasions to solve tricky issues that are typical of older homes. They were quick to come out and assess and quick to complete the project. Cameron, Cole, and Corey were polite, diligent, and frankly good at what they do. Happily recommend Plumb Medic to others and will use them should I have a new issue arise.

I rely on reviews a good bit but rarely write them. The glowing reviews are what led me to call Cameron/Plumb Medic LLC to get an estimate for installing a new Toto toilet that I ordered and had sitting in boxes in my hallway to replace my 43 year old Briggs toilet, yes 43 years ! Cameron returned my call immediately, was very knowledgeable and gave me a price that beat 2 other local plumbing companies even offering a discount for 2 toilets at once. I only had the one but am expecting delivery tomorrow for the second one. Cain and Eric came the next day to install my toilet. They were down to earth, easy to talk to , professional hardworking guys that knew their stuff! Plus, they are animal lovers like myself. I can honestly say that it was a pleasure having them at my house. They installed my new Toto and I plan to try to request them for the second Toto install. After using numerous plumbers/plumbing companies through the years I am happy and relieved to have found Plumb Medic and plan on making them my "go to " plumbers. This may sound odd but I do love my Toto !!! Barb Above review was several years ago. This 2nd review is from March 13 2026. Cameron and Corey came and installed a new Bradford White water heater for me. They did an exceptional job with attention to detail. Cameron noticed water seeping from an old connection above his work, accessed it and made the repair at no extra cost. I asked about replacing my 40 plus year old handle on the main water shut off to house at back of basement. Cameron was thoughtful enough to suggest that he could move it lower so I could reach it without a ladder -hopefully I won’t ever need to. He replaced it with a ball valve handle which is superior to the old school round handle that exterior faucets use and gave me a discount since they were installing the water heater. I couldn’t have asked for a more pleasant experience. Plumb Medic , Cameron and crew are the BEST.

Cain and Eric were schedule to come and replace a weird leaking outdoor faucet and replace some stuff in a bathroom. They did this in the usual timely and professional manner. They noticed an indoor leak and opened the wall to find a bigger problem. Thank goodness and a mitigation company was called. At the same time I had a sewer problem and they quickly got Cole out to ream and camera the sewer. Highly recommend this service.

Called Plumb Medic after I got a 1300 water bill assuming I had a leak. Cole came out in a POURING rainstorm. Checked our meter outside getting soaked several times after shutting off house water, and came back to tell me we had no leak and there was no charge. I was shocked he would come out and not charge me. I will use Plumb Medic in the future for every plumbing issue. That’s amazing customer service.

Plumb Medic was great to work with. We had a water issue and they came out quickly, figured out exactly what was going on, and explained everything clearly along the way. The technician was patient, knowledgeable, and really on top of his work. He also referred us to a water remediation company to dry out the affected areas, which made the whole situation much easier to handle. I really appreciated the professionalism and friendliness they showed throughout the process. Overall, a very good experience and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again or recommend them.

The entire experience was great from start to finish. It started with a phone call with Cameron. He gave me an estimate and when I mentioned I was getting estimates from other businesses he provided me with several questions to ask them. Next step was an in person estimate. Cole came out, gave an estimate then emailed me what we had discussed. When Cole came out with one other person (I forget his name) they were early, finished the work soner than they said, cleaned up then the bill was what we were quoted. Great service, great people and reasonable prices. I would recommend them to everyone adn will use the again when we need them.

We have used Plumb Medic several times over the years for our plumbing needs. Cameron and his team have always been honest and professional. Recently we had a toilet installed in which Cameron himself came out and installed. He arrived within the window he promised given the busy holiday season, which is extremely rare these days. There were some defects with toilet we purchased from Home Depot, which caused the install to take longer than expected. He had mentioned prior to coming out that his kid had a Christmas program that day, but should be able to install the toilet in time. Due to the toilet defect I’m pretty sure he missed his kid’s performance, which killed me inside. I wished he would have told me, because I would have told him to go and come back tomorrow. This just proves Cameron’s dedication to his craft and his customers. We appreciate him and his family for his dedication and highly recommend him and his team to anyone who has plumbing needs. Thank you again Cameron and we wish you and your family a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Water Heater Inspection in Woodstock, GA

A complete water heater inspection covers far more than a quick visual check. Our technicians start with the exterior, looking for rust, water staining, or signs of leaks at fittings and valves. The pressure relief valve is tested to verify proper operation, since a stuck valve creates serious safety risks. Gas units get a combustion air supply check, ensuring adequate ventilation around the burner. Vent connectors and flue pipes are inspected for corrosion, blockages, or improper slope. Electric units have their wiring connections checked for tightness and signs of overheating. Every shutoff valve gets tested for smooth operation. Each step contributes to a complete picture of system health.

Tank inspections include checking the anode rod, which is the single most important component for tank longevity. The anode rod sacrifices itself to protect the steel tank from corrosion, and once it is consumed, the tank begins to rust internally. We pull and inspect the rod whenever the tank design and access allow. Sediment levels are evaluated through drain valve testing and listening for popping sounds during heating cycles. Heating element resistance is measured on electric units to verify both elements are working properly. Thermostat function gets verified through temperature testing at the unit and at fixtures. Drain valves are checked for leaks and operational condition.

Tankless inspections require a different approach because the components are very different. Heat exchanger condition is the primary concern, especially in homes with hard water. Scale buildup reduces efficiency and can damage the unit if left unchecked. We measure water hardness, inspect inlet filters, and check for error codes stored in the control board memory. Combustion analysis on gas tankless units verifies the burner is operating within manufacturer specifications. Flame sensors, igniters, and fan motors are tested for proper function. Condensate drains are inspected for blockages, which can cause shutdowns. Plumb Medic is Navien certified, so we know exactly what to look for on these systems.

Gas line and connection inspections are critical safety checks. We use electronic leak detectors on every joint and fitting near the unit. Gas pressure is measured at both static and dynamic conditions to verify the unit receives proper supply. Flexible connectors are inspected for kinks, corrosion, or signs of wear. Sediment traps, often called drip legs, are verified to be present and properly installed. The shutoff valve is tested for smooth operation and proper labeling. TracPipe certified work is identified and confirmed for safety. Every gas connection meets code or gets flagged for repair.

Electrical inspections on water heaters cover several specific areas. The dedicated circuit breaker is checked for proper amperage and signs of arcing or heat damage. Wiring connections at the unit are inspected for tightness and corrosion. Grounding is verified at both the unit and the panel. The high-limit switch, which protects against dangerous overheating, is tested for proper function. Junction box covers are checked for security. We measure voltage at the unit to confirm proper supply. Loose or corroded connections cause many electric water heater failures, so this step matters.

Water quality assessment is part of a thorough inspection. Hard water is common in the Woodstock area and shortens the life of all water heaters. We measure hardness, check for chlorine levels that affect rubber components, and look for signs of bacterial growth. Sulfur smells from hot water often indicate anode rod reactions with sulfate-reducing bacteria. Discolored water points to internal corrosion or sediment issues. Our recommendations may include water softeners, filtration systems, or anode rod material changes. Addressing water quality protects the heater and improves overall plumbing system health. Better water means a longer-lasting unit.

The final inspection report covers everything we found, organized by priority. Critical safety issues are flagged for immediate repair, with clear explanations of why they matter. Maintenance items needed soon are listed with timelines and approximate costs. Items in good condition get noted as well, so you know what is working properly. Photos of key components or problem areas are included when helpful. Documentation of inspection date, technician, and findings supports warranty claims and home sale disclosures. Plumb Medic provides this report electronically for easy reference. You walk away with a complete understanding of your water heater’s condition and what to expect going forward.

Why Hire A Licensed Plumber For Your Water Heater Inspection

Licensed plumbers bring training, tools, and accountability that DIY inspections cannot match. Plumb Medic technicians know what failure points to look for on every brand and model, including warning signs that homeowners often miss. We carry combustion analyzers, electronic gas leak detectors, multimeters, and water quality test kits on every truck. Manufacturer warranties often require documented professional inspections to remain valid, especially on premium units. Our team is TracPipe and Navien certified, which means we are factory-trained on the systems we inspect. Catching issues early prevents expensive failures, water damage, and safety hazards. Insurance claims and home sales benefit from documented professional inspections. We provide written reports that protect your records. Inspections also help plan replacements before sudden failures cause emergencies. Plumb Medic offers waived diagnostic fees, military and senior discounts, and Wisetack financing if repairs are needed after the inspection. The cost of professional inspection is small compared to the cost of unnoticed problems.

Most Common Water Heater Inspection Questions

Water heater inspections raise questions about timing, cost, and what the process actually covers. Below are clear answers to the questions Woodstock homeowners ask most often before scheduling a professional inspection.

Most water heaters benefit from a professional inspection once per year. Annual inspections catch issues early, when repairs are simple and affordable. Tankless units especially need annual attention because of their complex electronics and sensitivity to scale buildup. Tank water heaters also benefit from yearly evaluations, particularly as they age past the five-year mark. Manufacturer warranties on premium units often require documented annual inspections to remain valid. Skipping inspections does not save money in the long run; it usually costs more when small problems grow into large ones.

Several situations call for inspections beyond the annual schedule. Buying or selling a home is one of them, since the condition of the water heater affects value and disclosure. Insurance claims after water damage often require documentation of system condition. Strange noises, rusty water, fluctuating temperatures, or rising utility bills are all reasons to schedule an inspection promptly. Units approaching 8 years old should be inspected annually without exception, since failure risk increases sharply with age. Recent home purchases with unknown service history justify an inspection right away. Plumb Medic schedules inspections quickly, often within a day or two.

Inspection frequency also depends on water quality and usage patterns. Hard water in the Woodstock area accelerates wear on internal components, making more frequent inspections valuable. Households with high hot water demand stress the unit more than smaller families. Homes with water softeners or filtration may extend intervals slightly, though annual inspection is still recommended. Vacation homes or rental properties benefit from inspections before each season of use. Plumb Medic creates inspection schedules tailored to your specific situation. Building inspection records over time helps track wear patterns and predict replacement timing accurately.

A complete water heater inspection covers safety, efficiency, and remaining lifespan. The technician starts with a visual examination of the unit and surrounding area, looking for leaks, corrosion, or installation issues. Pressure relief valves get tested for proper operation, since they protect against dangerous tank pressure buildup. Anode rods are inspected on tank units when access allows, with replacement recommended if heavily consumed. Sediment levels are evaluated through drain valve testing or visual observation. Thermostat function gets verified by measuring water temperature at the unit. Each step builds toward a complete picture of system health.

Gas water heater inspections add several safety-critical checks. Combustion air supply is verified to ensure proper burner operation. Vent connectors and flue pipes are examined for corrosion, blockages, or incorrect slope. Gas leak detection covers every fitting and connection on the unit and supply lines. Combustion analysis measures carbon monoxide, oxygen, and other byproducts to confirm safe operation. Flame appearance and burner condition get evaluated for proper combustion. Electric units have wiring inspected for tightness, signs of overheating, and proper grounding. The high-limit switch is tested for protective function.

Tankless inspections focus on the unit’s specific design and components. The heat exchanger is the most important component, and scale buildup is the primary enemy. Inlet filters get cleaned and inspected, flow sensors are tested, and condensate drains are checked for clogs. Error code history stored in the control board provides clues about past or developing issues. Combustion analysis on gas models verifies efficient burner operation. Plumb Medic is Navien certified, so we follow manufacturer specifications exactly. Every inspection ends with a written report covering findings, recommendations, and timeline for any needed work. You get clear documentation and clear explanations.

Most water heater inspections take 45 minutes to 90 minutes from arrival to completion. Tank water heaters generally fall on the shorter end, while tankless units take longer due to their complexity. The visual inspection portion goes quickly, but functional testing of valves, sensors, and combustion takes more time. Anode rod inspection on tank units adds time if removal is needed. Combustion analysis on gas units requires the burner to run long enough for accurate readings. Each step is done thoroughly, not rushed.

Several factors influence the actual time on site. Easy access in a basement or utility closet keeps things moving, while attic or crawl space installations take longer. Older units with more wear sometimes need additional testing to confirm findings. Tankless inspections include filter cleaning and may include flushing or descaling if needed. Documenting findings, taking photos, and writing the report takes additional time after the physical inspection. We provide written reports the same day in most cases. Time estimates given before the appointment are accurate.

Plumb Medic schedules inspections to give technicians adequate time without rushing. Quick, surface-level inspections miss important issues, which defeats the purpose. Our team takes the time needed to evaluate every component thoroughly. We explain what we are doing and why throughout the process if you want to follow along. Questions are welcomed; many homeowners learn useful maintenance tips during inspections. The total time investment is small compared to the protection it provides. Annual inspections fit easily into your schedule and pay off through extended unit life and prevented failures.

Water heater inspection costs typically range from $100 to $250 depending on the unit type and depth of service. Standard tank inspections fall on the lower end, while tankless inspections with descaling and filter cleaning cost more. Plumb Medic provides upfront pricing before any work begins. The cost includes the technician’s time, testing equipment, and a written report covering all findings. We do not charge separately for the report or for explaining results. Honest, transparent pricing is part of how we do business.

The diagnostic fee is waived if you proceed with any recommended repairs. This means an inspection that finds an issue does not cost extra to address; the inspection fee applies toward the repair. Maintenance services like flushing, descaling, or anode rod replacement are priced separately and clearly. Bundled services like inspection plus annual maintenance often offer better value than separate visits. Military and senior discounts apply to inspections and any follow-up work. Wisetack financing covers larger repairs that may follow.

Inspection cost compares favorably to the value it provides. Catching a failing anode rod for $50 in replacement saves a $1,500 to $3,000 tank replacement later. Identifying scale buildup on a tankless heat exchanger before damage occurs saves the most expensive component in the unit. Detecting gas leaks, venting problems, or electrical issues prevents safety hazards that could cost far more than the inspection itself. Insurance companies sometimes offer discounts for documented annual inspections on water heaters and other major systems. The math strongly favors regular professional inspections. Skipping them is a false economy.

Basic visual checks are reasonable for homeowners and worth doing between professional inspections. Looking for water around the base of the unit, listening for unusual noises, and checking the thermostat setting are simple steps anyone can take. Verifying the temperature and pressure relief valve discharge pipe is properly directed is also straightforward. Noting the unit’s age, brand, and model helps with planning. These quick checks catch obvious problems but miss most internal issues. They are a supplement to professional inspections, not a replacement.

DIY inspections cannot substitute for professional evaluation in several key ways. Combustion analysis on gas units requires specialized equipment and training to interpret results. Gas leak detection at fittings needs electronic detectors that homeowners rarely have. Anode rod inspection requires removing the rod safely, which can be tricky on older units. Electrical testing on heating elements needs a multimeter and the knowledge to use it correctly. Tankless heat exchanger condition cannot be visually evaluated without the unit running and proper testing equipment. These are the inspections that catch developing problems early.

Plumb Medic encourages homeowners to do basic checks while leaving the comprehensive work to licensed plumbers. We are happy to share what to watch for between professional visits. Photos of the unit, notes on temperature, and observations about water quality help us spot trends over multiple inspections. Annual professional inspection combined with regular homeowner observation creates the best protection. Our reports give you a baseline to compare against in the future. Inspection skills improve with experience, and our technicians have inspected thousands of water heaters across Woodstock and surrounding areas. That experience makes a real difference in catching subtle issues.

Several warning signs indicate your water heater needs professional attention sooner rather than later. Rusty or discolored hot water is one of the clearest, pointing to internal corrosion or anode rod failure. Strange noises like popping, rumbling, or banging usually mean sediment buildup. Fluctuating water temperatures suggest thermostat or heating element problems. Water around the base of the unit needs immediate inspection regardless of how small the leak appears. Higher utility bills without other changes often signal declining efficiency.

Smells coming from hot water also warrant inspection. Sulfur or rotten egg odors typically come from bacterial reactions with anode rods, especially in well water systems. Metallic tastes or smells point to corrosion inside the tank. A burning smell from gas units could indicate dust on burner components or a more serious electrical issue. Tankless units displaying error codes need professional diagnosis to interpret correctly. Pilot lights that frequently go out signal thermocouple, gas valve, or venting issues. Each symptom tells a story that trained ears and eyes can decode.

Time-based triggers also justify inspection scheduling. Units approaching 8 to 10 years old should be inspected annually without exception. Recently purchased homes deserve immediate inspection if the unit’s history is unknown. Major plumbing work elsewhere in the house, like repiping or pressure changes, can affect the water heater. Power outages or surges sometimes damage electronic controls on modern units. Construction or renovation near the heater can introduce debris or damage. Plumb Medic responds quickly to inspection requests, often scheduling within a day or two. Catching issues early always costs less than waiting.

Yes, regular inspections directly extend water heater lifespan. The biggest factor is catching anode rod depletion before the tank itself starts corroding. Replacing a $50 anode rod every few years can add 5 or more years to a tank’s life. Detecting and removing sediment before it hardens prevents heating element burnout and tank bottom damage. Identifying gas pressure or electrical issues protects sensitive components from premature failure. Each early intervention compounds over time.

Tankless units benefit even more from regular inspections. The heat exchanger is the most expensive component, and protecting it from scale damage is the single most valuable maintenance task. Annual descaling, made part of inspections, often doubles tankless lifespan. Cleaning inlet filters keeps flow rates healthy and prevents activation problems. Catching small electronic issues before they cascade into control board failures saves significant money. Manufacturer warranties on premium tankless units often require documented annual inspections to remain valid. Following the schedule protects your investment.

Plumb Medic builds long-term relationships with customers through consistent, honest service. Annual inspections create records that help track wear patterns and predict needs accurately. We learn your specific unit, your water quality, and your usage patterns over time. That history makes recommendations more accurate and maintenance more targeted. The goal is to get every possible year of reliable service from your water heater. Sudden failures cause water damage, stress, and emergency replacement costs; planned maintenance prevents most of those scenarios. Our customers consistently report longer unit lifespans and fewer surprises after starting regular inspection schedules.

Finding a problem during inspection is actually good news; it means the issue gets addressed before causing major damage. Plumb Medic explains every finding in plain language, with clear severity ratings. Critical safety issues get flagged for immediate attention, with explanations of the risks involved. Items needing repair soon are listed with recommended timelines, often weeks or months rather than days. Routine maintenance items appear with suggested intervals. You leave the inspection knowing exactly what your unit needs and when.

Pricing for any recommended work is provided upfront, before you commit to anything. The inspection fee is waived if you proceed with the repair, which keeps overall costs lower. We do not pressure customers to schedule work immediately for non-urgent items. Many customers schedule repairs at convenient times based on our recommendations. Wisetack financing is available for larger repairs, with quick approval and manageable monthly payments. Military and senior discounts apply to all repair work. Transparent pricing and honest recommendations have earned us strong reputation in the Woodstock community.

Some inspection findings lead to recommendations beyond simple repairs. A unit nearing end of life may justify replacement planning rather than continued repairs. Water quality issues might call for softener or filtration installation to protect future units. Code upgrades like expansion tanks or earthquake straps may be recommended on older installations. Plumb Medic explains the reasoning behind each recommendation so you can make informed decisions. We never push services that do not benefit you. The goal is the best long-term outcome for your home and your budget. That approach has made us one of the most trusted plumbing companies in Woodstock.
