Plumb Medic comes through for the win...again! My water heater was old and the piping was wonky. Nick installed a better water heater and brought all the wonky stuff up to code. I always recommend Plumb Medic for plumbing needs. They're awesome!
Cain Was super friendly and knowledgeable. He stayed late to get the job done and did great work Will Call again if needed and would definitely recommend
Plumb Medic is my go to for water leaks and other plumbing issues. I have used them on multiple occasions to solve tricky issues that are typical of older homes. They were quick to come out and assess and quick to complete the project. Cameron, Cole, and Corey were polite, diligent, and frankly good at what they do. Happily recommend Plumb Medic to others and will use them should I have a new issue arise.
HIGHLY recommend! So professional!! Arrived on time, great communication and went above and beyond!!! Very reasonably priced, too!!
Thank you so much for the great service. I called that morning because my toilet was continuously running, and you came out that day. You diagnosed the problem as too much pressure and fixed the problem, and got me back in code. Your professionalism and attention to detail are very much appreciated. I will definitely recommend you to anyone that needs a professional and reasonably priced plumbing service.
Completely thrilled with the service and the prompt responses. I called on the weekend and received a call back within 24 hours. They were honestly, professional and got us up to code! Thank You!
Nick replaced a wax ring on my son’s toilet. He said he was very friendly and did a great job!
I rely on reviews a good bit but rarely write them. The glowing reviews are what led me to call Cameron/Plumb Medic LLC to get an estimate for installing a new Toto toilet that I ordered and had sitting in boxes in my hallway to replace my 43 year old Briggs toilet, yes 43 years ! Cameron returned my call immediately, was very knowledgeable and gave me a price that beat 2 other local plumbing companies even offering a discount for 2 toilets at once. I only had the one but am expecting delivery tomorrow for the second one. Cain and Eric came the next day to install my toilet. They were down to earth, easy to talk to , professional hardworking guys that knew their stuff! Plus, they are animal lovers like myself. I can honestly say that it was a pleasure having them at my house. They installed my new Toto and I plan to try to request them for the second Toto install. After using numerous plumbers/plumbing companies through the years I am happy and relieved to have found Plumb Medic and plan on making them my "go to " plumbers. This may sound odd but I do love my Toto !!! Barb Above review was several years ago. This 2nd review is from March 13 2026. Cameron and Corey came and installed a new Bradford White water heater for me. They did an exceptional job with attention to detail. Cameron noticed water seeping from an old connection above his work, accessed it and made the repair at no extra cost. I asked about replacing my 40 plus year old handle on the main water shut off to house at back of basement. Cameron was thoughtful enough to suggest that he could move it lower so I could reach it without a ladder -hopefully I won’t ever need to. He replaced it with a ball valve handle which is superior to the old school round handle that exterior faucets use and gave me a discount since they were installing the water heater. I couldn’t have asked for a more pleasant experience. Plumb Medic , Cameron and crew are the BEST.
As always they come through with a reasonable price and get the work done. I have used them multiple times and they will always be my first call.
Cameron and team did excellent and extensive work through our house. They cared for our home like it was theirs. Highly recommend.
I am a repeat client. They are very professional. They quickly diagnose problems and present alternative solutions to each issue. They are a pleasure to work with.
Cameron and Corey were professional, freindly, knowledgeable and honest. I told them the issues I was having and knew exactly what to do to fix the problem. They don’t cut corners, and fix the problem RIGHT , and take pride in their work.
Cain and Eric were schedule to come and replace a weird leaking outdoor faucet and replace some stuff in a bathroom. They did this in the usual timely and professional manner. They noticed an indoor leak and opened the wall to find a bigger problem. Thank goodness and a mitigation company was called. At the same time I had a sewer problem and they quickly got Cole out to ream and camera the sewer. Highly recommend this service.
Called Plumb Medic after I got a 1300 water bill assuming I had a leak. Cole came out in a POURING rainstorm. Checked our meter outside getting soaked several times after shutting off house water, and came back to tell me we had no leak and there was no charge. I was shocked he would come out and not charge me. I will use Plumb Medic in the future for every plumbing issue. That’s amazing customer service.
Fantastic customer service! Excellent communication, and follow up, prompt, professional and very helpful and patient answering my questions. I highly recommend them without reservation!
We encountered the dreaded, dirty rusty water in our sinks and tubs and knew we needed to replace our water heater. I called Plumb Medic and after a brief discussion we were scheduled for a new install 2 days later. They were on time, on budget and the area was spic-and-span when they finished up. The quality of the joints and connections of the new copper piping needed was impressive - it was like a work of art. They were friendly, professional, honest and super easy and comfortable to do business with. I can highly recommend Plumb Medic without reservation!!
We had a fantastic experience with them. They were prompt, professional, and extremely knowledgeable. They quickly diagnosed the issue, explained everything clearly, and completed the repair efficiently. The pricing was fair with no surprises. It’s hard to find reliable service these days, but they absolutely delivered. Highly recommend for any plumbing needs!
Clean install. On time. Professional and fair Price. Highly recommended
I definitely recommend Plumb Medic. Water heater finally broke and they came out and replaced it the same day. Good pricing and great customer service
Cole was capable, quick, and knowledgeable. He did solid work for a good price.
Plumb Medic was great to work with. We had a water issue and they came out quickly, figured out exactly what was going on, and explained everything clearly along the way. The technician was patient, knowledgeable, and really on top of his work. He also referred us to a water remediation company to dry out the affected areas, which made the whole situation much easier to handle. I really appreciated the professionalism and friendliness they showed throughout the process. Overall, a very good experience and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again or recommend them.
The entire experience was great from start to finish. It started with a phone call with Cameron. He gave me an estimate and when I mentioned I was getting estimates from other businesses he provided me with several questions to ask them. Next step was an in person estimate. Cole came out, gave an estimate then emailed me what we had discussed. When Cole came out with one other person (I forget his name) they were early, finished the work soner than they said, cleaned up then the bill was what we were quoted. Great service, great people and reasonable prices. I would recommend them to everyone adn will use the again when we need them.
I called Plumb Medic after discovering water in my garage. The owner, Cameron, came to my home at 8:30pm and detected a slab leak behind the water heater. Repairs were made the next day. Cameron is very personable and professional. I highly recommend him and his team for all plumbing needs.
Such great service. Knowledgeable, friendly and honest. Will definitely call them anytime I need a plumber.
Have been using Plumb Medic last 2 years and very satisfied. Cole was excellent. Strongly recommend!
Plumb Medic is absolutely the best. I’ve used them for multiple services and repairs, and every experience has been consistently excellent. Their communication is clear and timely, and the entire team is professional from start to finish. They’re honest, knowledgeable, and I always feel confident the work is done right. Truly the only plumbing company I trust and continue to use. Highly recommend!
Quick and responsive, friendly and helpful. Best plumber experience ever. 100% recommend.
Cameron and the team did an awesome job with our replumb. In and out in a day, competitive pricing, and they were great to work with throughout the process. Highly recommend
One of the most professional and efficient companies I’ve ever worked with. They came in and diagnosed the problem and got to work immediately. I can’t recommend them enough.
I would highly recommend!!! Cain and Eric went way above and beyond to help us out in our situation. They were very professional, knowledgeable, kind and answered all of our questions and concerns! I can not recommend them enough!
Cameron and his team have helped me out many times over the years, from leaks to running toilets and most recently, the replacement of my water heater. They’re always prompt, thorough and super respectful, their quotes are clear and transparent and they do a wonderful job explaining everything so you know exactly what you’re getting. I never feel like I’m being upsold or pressured into anything, it genuinely feels like they care - like it’s a friend or family member helping out. Their work is great too! Will hire again and again 😁
Cain and his brother Eric did an amazing job. I called Cameron and he was able to get someone out quickly despite a busy schedule. Honest, professional, on time, and no unnecessary repairs. Plus excellent pricing. All around the best —the only plumbing company I recommend.
They came when they said they would and the plumber was very nice and took care of it in the most efficient way possible, so there wasn't any superfluous charges. I highly recommend this company!
Reliable, clean, quick, fair priced. Thank you Plumb Medic for helping us! 🙂
Cameron and Corey did a fantastic job replacing my tankless hot water heater. Everything was explained to me.
We have used Plumb Medic several times over the years for our plumbing needs. Cameron and his team have always been honest and professional. Recently we had a toilet installed in which Cameron himself came out and installed. He arrived within the window he promised given the busy holiday season, which is extremely rare these days. There were some defects with toilet we purchased from Home Depot, which caused the install to take longer than expected. He had mentioned prior to coming out that his kid had a Christmas program that day, but should be able to install the toilet in time. Due to the toilet defect I’m pretty sure he missed his kid’s performance, which killed me inside. I wished he would have told me, because I would have told him to go and come back tomorrow. This just proves Cameron’s dedication to his craft and his customers. We appreciate him and his family for his dedication and highly recommend him and his team to anyone who has plumbing needs. Thank you again Cameron and we wish you and your family a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Great response, communication, work and reasonable price. On site within a couple of hours for a service main break. Ask for Cole.
The gentleman that came was awesome! He explain everything he was looking at and how much it would cost beforehand. He told me if it was too much that he could break it down to what should he done first. He worked office fly and checked everything to make sure all was done correctly
Cameron and team are great guys and have always been good to finish projects and help in emergencies. I have used them to finish out a laundry room project, replace toilets, replace a water heater and fix a mainline break to my house. They have always been quick and fair! I have tried several companies and plumbmedic has always treated my emergencies as if it was their own home emergencies. Can’t go wrong with this company.
Great experience! Cole from plumb medic did a thorough assessment of the issue and explained everything in details.
Cam and Jesse went above and beyond for us. From the initial call they were professional and courteous while walking me through what needed to be done on my basement rough in. The bid was very fair and they showed up on time and completed the job quicker than I expected. No corners were cut and the job was meticulously done. They also replaced my hot water heater. I can’t say enough about the Plumb Medic. It is very refreshing to work with a company like theirs. I highly recommend Plumb Medic for any of your plumbing needs.
Used them 3 times, always show up on time, fixed the issue and their prices are great.

Garbage Disposal Installation in Woodstock, GA
Garbage disposal installation begins with selecting the right unit for your household. Power rating is the first consideration, measured in horsepower. A 1/3 horsepower unit handles light food waste in small households or as backup for primary disposal habits. A 1/2 horsepower unit suits average families with normal food preparation routines. A 3/4 horsepower unit handles tougher waste like fibrous vegetables, fruit pits, and small bones. A 1 horsepower unit handles the toughest jobs in busy kitchens. Plumb Medic helps customers match power to actual household needs. Oversizing wastes money, while undersizing creates ongoing performance problems.
Continuous feed and batch feed designs offer different operation styles. Continuous feed disposals run while a wall switch is on, accepting food waste continuously through the open drain. They are the most common type, offering convenient operation. Batch feed disposals only run when a stopper-activated switch in the drain is engaged, providing additional safety. Batch feed units cost more but eliminate the risk of items falling into a running disposal. The choice depends on household preferences, presence of young children, and budget. Both types perform well when properly sized and installed.
Sound insulation has improved dramatically across the industry over recent years. Premium disposals use multiple layers of sound insulation around the grinding chamber, significantly reducing operating noise. Anti-vibration mounting systems further dampen sound transmission to surrounding cabinets. Higher-end models from InSinkErator like the Evolution series operate at noise levels that allow normal conversation. Budget models tend to be louder, sometimes uncomfortably so during operation. Plumb Medic recommends quieter units for kitchens where noise matters, since the cost difference is usually justified by daily comfort. Sound rating specifications help compare models objectively.
Septic system compatibility matters for homes outside municipal sewer service. Standard garbage disposals send food waste to wastewater systems, increasing solids that septic systems must process. Septic-friendly disposals like the InSinkErator Evolution Septic Assist add enzymes that help break down food waste in septic tanks. These units cost more but protect septic system function over time. Plumb Medic recommends septic-friendly models for homes with septic systems and discusses any limitations on what should go through the disposal. Some septic system owners prefer to avoid disposals entirely, sending food waste to compost instead.
Electrical requirements affect installation complexity and cost. Most garbage disposals require a dedicated 15-amp or 20-amp circuit with a wall switch for continuous feed models. Hardwired and plug-in connection options are both available, with local code dictating which is appropriate. Older homes sometimes lack proper electrical setup for disposals, requiring electrician work in addition to plumbing installation. New construction typically includes proper rough-in for disposal installation. Plumb Medic identifies electrical needs during pre-installation evaluation and coordinates with electricians when needed. Our work focuses on the plumbing connections and disposal mounting.
Plumbing connections require precise work to prevent leaks. The disposal mounts to the sink flange using a three-bolt mounting assembly. The discharge pipe connects to the drain plumbing through a tailpiece and trap. Dishwasher connections route through the disposal in most installations, requiring proper hose attachment. P-traps on the drain prevent sewer gas from entering the kitchen while allowing waste flow. Each connection must be properly tightened and sealed without overtightening that can crack components. Plumb Medic technicians complete these connections accurately, with leak testing before declaring the job complete.
Code compliance applies to garbage disposal installations. Cross-connection control prevents contamination, achieved through proper drain configuration and dishwasher loop installation. Air gaps required for dishwashers in some jurisdictions prevent dirty water from siphoning back into clean systems. Electrical work must meet current code, including GFCI protection where required. Drain venting affects performance and prevents sewer gas issues. Plumb Medic stays current on code requirements and applies them correctly. Installations that meet code protect your home and avoid problems during home sales or inspections.

Why Hire A Licensed Plumber For Your Garbage Disposal Installation
Professional garbage disposal installation prevents leaks, electrical problems, and code violations that DIY work commonly creates. Plumb Medic technicians know how to handle the combination of plumbing and electrical work safely and correctly. We evaluate your specific kitchen setup and recommend the right unit for your household needs. Improper installation causes leaks under sinks that damage cabinets and flooring over time. Electrical mistakes create shock and fire hazards in addition to disposal failures. Manufacturer warranties on premium units typically require licensed installation to remain valid. Our team handles unit selection, removal of old units, mounting, plumbing connections, electrical hookup, and complete testing. The diagnostic fee is waived when we handle the installation, and Wisetack financing makes new units accessible. Military and senior discounts apply to all installations. Plumb Medic backs every installation with warranty and accountability. Calling a licensed plumber ensures the job is done right the first time, with no surprise problems later.
Most Common Garbage Disposal Installation Questions
Garbage disposal installation raises practical questions about cost, sizing, and what makes one unit better than another. Below are clear answers to the questions Woodstock homeowners ask most often before scheduling installation.
Garbage disposal installation costs vary based on the unit selected and any additional work needed. Standard installation with a basic 1/3 to 1/2 horsepower unit typically runs $300 to $500 including the disposal and labor. Mid-range installations with 3/4 horsepower units and better sound insulation usually fall between $450 and $700. Premium installations with 1 horsepower disposals and top features can run $600 to $1,000 or more. Plumb Medic provides upfront pricing before any work begins.
Several factors affect the final installation cost beyond the basic unit. Replacing failed shutoff valves, supply lines, or trap components adds to the project when needed. Electrical work for new installations or panel upgrades involves additional cost, typically requiring an electrician. Removing old disposals that have corroded into place takes additional labor occasionally. Sink configurations that require replacement of mounting hardware add modest costs. New installations without existing electrical and plumbing setup cost significantly more than replacements.
The diagnostic fee is waived when we handle the installation, keeping overall costs lower. Military and senior discounts apply to disposal installations. Wisetack financing covers larger projects, making premium installations affordable. We do not push customers toward the most expensive unit; we recommend what fits your actual household needs. Some kitchens do well with mid-range units, while busier kitchens justify premium models. Honest recommendations based on your specific situation are part of how we operate. Customers consistently report satisfaction with both pricing and results.
Disposal sizing depends on household size, food waste habits, and what you typically grind. A 1/3 horsepower unit suits small households with light food waste, though it may struggle with tougher items. A 1/2 horsepower unit handles average household needs adequately, fitting most two to four-person homes with normal cooking habits. A 3/4 horsepower unit provides better performance for fibrous vegetables, fruit pits, and tougher waste in busier kitchens. A 1 horsepower unit handles heavy use including small bones and very fibrous waste in active households.
Several factors push sizing toward larger units. Households that cook frequently and generate significant food waste benefit from more power. Homes with multiple cooks contributing to food preparation create higher waste volume. Vegetarian households often grind more fibrous waste than meat-focused kitchens. Older plumbing systems benefit from more powerful units that grind waste finer, reducing drain clog risk. Larger families simply create more disposal use throughout the day. Each factor argues for slightly more power than basic sizing suggests.
Plumb Medic asks about your specific cooking habits, household size, and any plumbing concerns during consultation. We avoid recommending oversized units that waste money on unnecessary capacity. We also avoid undersized units that frustrate users with frequent jamming and slow grinding. The right size matches actual use patterns. Quieter operation is often more important than maximum power for many customers, and premium models offer both. Our recommendations balance power, noise, durability, and budget. Customers can ask questions and discuss options before making final decisions.
Standard garbage disposal installation typically takes 1 to 2 hours from arrival to completion. Replacing an existing disposal with electrical and plumbing already in place is the fastest scenario, often completing in under 90 minutes. New installations without existing infrastructure take 3 to 5 hours, sometimes longer when electrical work is needed. Complex installations with sink modifications or major plumbing changes can extend to a half-day project. Plumb Medic provides accurate time estimates during scheduling.
Several factors affect actual installation time. Removing stuck or corroded old disposals takes additional time when mounting hardware has seized. Repairing sink flange damage caused by old disposal removal extends the project. Replacing supply lines, trap components, or shutoff valves discovered to be failing during installation adds time. Tight cabinet spaces under sinks make every connection more difficult to access. Multiple plumbing fixtures sharing the same area sometimes complicate disposal work.
Same-day installation is available for most jobs scheduled in advance. Emergency situations involving leaking or failed disposals get priority response. Our trucks carry common installation parts and supplies, so we rarely leave for parts during normal installations. The complete process includes shutting off power and water, removing the old unit, installing the new disposal, connecting plumbing and electrical, and testing thoroughly. Final pressure testing and operation testing confirm everything works properly before we leave. You receive a working disposal plus warranty documentation.
Quality garbage disposals typically last 8 to 12 years with proper use and maintenance. Premium models from InSinkErator and similar manufacturers often reach 12 to 15 years when cared for properly. Budget units sometimes fail within 3 to 5 years, especially in heavy use households. Stainless steel grinding components last longer than galvanized steel components common in budget units. Sealed motors with permanent lubrication outlast designs requiring periodic service. Quality of installation also affects lifespan significantly.
Several practices extend disposal lifespan. Running cold water during operation and for 15 seconds after grinding flushes waste through completely. Avoiding hard items like bones, fruit pits, and shells protects grinding components. Keeping fibrous items like celery stalks and corn husks out of the disposal prevents jams and motor strain. Regular cleaning with ice cubes and salt or commercial disposal cleaners removes buildup. Avoiding chemical drain cleaners protects rubber components inside the disposal.
Plumb Medic recommends replacement when disposals show signs of significant wear or recurring problems. Frequent jamming, persistent leaks from the body, motor failures, and grinding problems all signal end of useful life. Repair costs that approach replacement value typically justify replacement instead. Newer models offer better sound insulation, more power, and improved efficiency than older units. Our recommendations factor in age, repair history, and current performance. Customers appreciate honest assessments rather than constant pushes toward replacement. The right answer depends on the specific situation.
Most soft food waste goes through disposals safely with cold water running. Fruit and vegetable scraps, including peels and trimmings, generally process without issues. Soft cooked foods like pasta, rice, and vegetables grind easily. Coffee grounds work in moderate amounts, though they can accumulate in drain lines over time. Citrus peels actually help clean and freshen disposals while being processed. Eggshells get debated; some manufacturers say avoid them, while others claim they help sharpen grinding components.
Several items should never go in disposals regardless of unit power. Bones, even small ones, can damage grinding components and motor bearings. Fruit pits like avocado, peach, and cherry pits are too hard for residential disposals. Shells from shrimp, crabs, or oysters cause similar damage. Fibrous vegetables like celery, asparagus stalks, corn husks, artichokes, and onion skins wrap around grinding components and cause jams. Pasta and rice expand significantly with water, potentially clogging drains downstream of the disposal. Grease and oil should always be disposed of in trash, never down disposals.
Several items cause hidden long-term problems even when they seem to work initially. Large quantities of any food at once can overwhelm the unit and cause jams. Coffee grounds accumulate over time in drains and trap arms, eventually causing clogs. Potato peels create starchy paste that adheres to drain walls. Pumpkin pulp during fall holidays clogs disposals and drains regularly. Plumb Medic answers questions about what specific foods can go through your disposal. Following manufacturer guidelines plus common sense protects your disposal and drains. Drain cleaning becomes necessary occasionally even with proper disposal use.
Septic systems benefit from disposals designed specifically for their requirements. Standard garbage disposals send food waste to wastewater systems, increasing solid waste that septic tanks must process. The additional solids fill septic tanks faster, requiring more frequent pumping. Bacteria in septic tanks must work harder to break down the additional waste. Septic-friendly disposals like the InSinkErator Evolution Septic Assist add enzyme injection systems that introduce beneficial bacteria with each grinding cycle. These enzymes help break down food waste before it reaches the septic tank.
Several factors affect whether a disposal makes sense on a septic system. Septic tank size and condition matters; smaller tanks fill faster with disposal use. Septic system age affects capacity to handle additional waste. Soil conditions in the drain field affect how efficiently the system processes waste. Frequency of pumping and maintenance influences whether disposals create real problems. Some septic system owners prefer composting food waste instead of using disposals, reducing septic load completely.
Plumb Medic discusses septic considerations during disposal selection for customers with septic systems. We recommend septic-friendly units when customers want to use disposals, and we explain the trade-offs honestly. Pumping schedules may need to increase with disposal use, typically every 2 to 3 years instead of every 3 to 5 years. Some customers prefer to avoid disposals on older septic systems where capacity is already limited. Composting represents an environmentally friendly alternative that protects septic systems. Each customer’s situation is different, and we provide guidance based on specific circumstances. Our goal is the best long-term outcome for your home and septic system.
Garbage disposal installation involves both plumbing and electrical work, making it more complex than many homeowners realize. The plumbing connections include drain pipe modifications, trap installation, and dishwasher loop attachment in most cases. The electrical work requires proper wiring to a wall switch with appropriate amperage and grounding. Mounting the disposal to the sink flange requires specific tools and techniques. Each step has potential for errors that cause leaks, electrical hazards, or premature failure.
Several common DIY problems affect garbage disposal installations. Leaks at the sink flange develop when the mounting assembly is not properly sealed and tightened. Drain leaks appear at slip nut connections that were not tightened correctly. Electrical issues range from improper wire connections to using the wrong gauge wire for the disposal’s amperage requirements. Dishwasher hose connections can leak or block if not installed properly. Each problem causes water damage or safety issues that show up days or weeks after installation.
Plumb Medic makes professional installation accessible through transparent pricing, financing, and discounts. The diagnostic fee is waived when we handle the work, and our installations are backed by warranty. Manufacturer warranties on premium disposals often require professional installation to remain valid. The total cost difference between DIY and professional installation is smaller than people expect once tools, time, and risk factors are included. Calling a licensed plumber is often the better value, especially for premium units. We complete the work efficiently, ensuring everything functions properly before we leave. Customers can enjoy their new disposal without worrying about hidden problems.
InSinkErator dominates the garbage disposal market for good reason, offering reliable units across all price points. The Evolution series provides excellent sound insulation and grinding power, making them our most-recommended premium line. Badger series units from InSinkErator offer reliable basic performance at lower prices. The brand’s parts availability is excellent, supporting decades of service after installation. Most plumbing professionals prefer InSinkErator based on field experience with reliability and durability.
Several other brands offer quality alternatives worth considering. Waste King produces solid disposals at competitive prices, with permanent magnet motors that some customers prefer. Moen offers disposals that match their faucet finishes, appealing to customers wanting coordinated kitchen aesthetics. KitchenAid disposals feature continuous feed designs with good performance ratings. Each brand has strengths and weaknesses worth evaluating against specific needs. Plumb Medic installs all major brands and shares our experience with each.
Several factors guide brand selection beyond raw performance. Sound insulation is increasingly important for kitchens connected to living spaces. Septic-friendly options matter for homes outside municipal sewer service. Warranty terms vary significantly, with premium units offering 7 to 10-year warranties on parts. Power ratings should match household needs, with most homes well-served by 3/4 to 1 horsepower units. Our recommendations consider all these factors plus your specific budget and preferences. Customers benefit from honest guidance rather than sales pressure toward any particular brand. The best disposal is the one that fits your kitchen, household, and budget while delivering reliable service for years.
