Plumb Medic comes through for the win...again! My water heater was old and the piping was wonky. Nick installed a better water heater and brought all the wonky stuff up to code. I always recommend Plumb Medic for plumbing needs. They're awesome!
Cain Was super friendly and knowledgeable. He stayed late to get the job done and did great work Will Call again if needed and would definitely recommend
Plumb Medic is my go to for water leaks and other plumbing issues. I have used them on multiple occasions to solve tricky issues that are typical of older homes. They were quick to come out and assess and quick to complete the project. Cameron, Cole, and Corey were polite, diligent, and frankly good at what they do. Happily recommend Plumb Medic to others and will use them should I have a new issue arise.
HIGHLY recommend! So professional!! Arrived on time, great communication and went above and beyond!!! Very reasonably priced, too!!
Thank you so much for the great service. I called that morning because my toilet was continuously running, and you came out that day. You diagnosed the problem as too much pressure and fixed the problem, and got me back in code. Your professionalism and attention to detail are very much appreciated. I will definitely recommend you to anyone that needs a professional and reasonably priced plumbing service.
Completely thrilled with the service and the prompt responses. I called on the weekend and received a call back within 24 hours. They were honestly, professional and got us up to code! Thank You!
Nick replaced a wax ring on my son’s toilet. He said he was very friendly and did a great job!
I rely on reviews a good bit but rarely write them. The glowing reviews are what led me to call Cameron/Plumb Medic LLC to get an estimate for installing a new Toto toilet that I ordered and had sitting in boxes in my hallway to replace my 43 year old Briggs toilet, yes 43 years ! Cameron returned my call immediately, was very knowledgeable and gave me a price that beat 2 other local plumbing companies even offering a discount for 2 toilets at once. I only had the one but am expecting delivery tomorrow for the second one. Cain and Eric came the next day to install my toilet. They were down to earth, easy to talk to , professional hardworking guys that knew their stuff! Plus, they are animal lovers like myself. I can honestly say that it was a pleasure having them at my house. They installed my new Toto and I plan to try to request them for the second Toto install. After using numerous plumbers/plumbing companies through the years I am happy and relieved to have found Plumb Medic and plan on making them my "go to " plumbers. This may sound odd but I do love my Toto !!! Barb Above review was several years ago. This 2nd review is from March 13 2026. Cameron and Corey came and installed a new Bradford White water heater for me. They did an exceptional job with attention to detail. Cameron noticed water seeping from an old connection above his work, accessed it and made the repair at no extra cost. I asked about replacing my 40 plus year old handle on the main water shut off to house at back of basement. Cameron was thoughtful enough to suggest that he could move it lower so I could reach it without a ladder -hopefully I won’t ever need to. He replaced it with a ball valve handle which is superior to the old school round handle that exterior faucets use and gave me a discount since they were installing the water heater. I couldn’t have asked for a more pleasant experience. Plumb Medic , Cameron and crew are the BEST.
As always they come through with a reasonable price and get the work done. I have used them multiple times and they will always be my first call.
Cameron and team did excellent and extensive work through our house. They cared for our home like it was theirs. Highly recommend.
I am a repeat client. They are very professional. They quickly diagnose problems and present alternative solutions to each issue. They are a pleasure to work with.
Cameron and Corey were professional, freindly, knowledgeable and honest. I told them the issues I was having and knew exactly what to do to fix the problem. They don’t cut corners, and fix the problem RIGHT , and take pride in their work.
Cain and Eric were schedule to come and replace a weird leaking outdoor faucet and replace some stuff in a bathroom. They did this in the usual timely and professional manner. They noticed an indoor leak and opened the wall to find a bigger problem. Thank goodness and a mitigation company was called. At the same time I had a sewer problem and they quickly got Cole out to ream and camera the sewer. Highly recommend this service.
Called Plumb Medic after I got a 1300 water bill assuming I had a leak. Cole came out in a POURING rainstorm. Checked our meter outside getting soaked several times after shutting off house water, and came back to tell me we had no leak and there was no charge. I was shocked he would come out and not charge me. I will use Plumb Medic in the future for every plumbing issue. That’s amazing customer service.
Fantastic customer service! Excellent communication, and follow up, prompt, professional and very helpful and patient answering my questions. I highly recommend them without reservation!
We encountered the dreaded, dirty rusty water in our sinks and tubs and knew we needed to replace our water heater. I called Plumb Medic and after a brief discussion we were scheduled for a new install 2 days later. They were on time, on budget and the area was spic-and-span when they finished up. The quality of the joints and connections of the new copper piping needed was impressive - it was like a work of art. They were friendly, professional, honest and super easy and comfortable to do business with. I can highly recommend Plumb Medic without reservation!!
We had a fantastic experience with them. They were prompt, professional, and extremely knowledgeable. They quickly diagnosed the issue, explained everything clearly, and completed the repair efficiently. The pricing was fair with no surprises. It’s hard to find reliable service these days, but they absolutely delivered. Highly recommend for any plumbing needs!
Clean install. On time. Professional and fair Price. Highly recommended
I definitely recommend Plumb Medic. Water heater finally broke and they came out and replaced it the same day. Good pricing and great customer service
Cole was capable, quick, and knowledgeable. He did solid work for a good price.
Plumb Medic was great to work with. We had a water issue and they came out quickly, figured out exactly what was going on, and explained everything clearly along the way. The technician was patient, knowledgeable, and really on top of his work. He also referred us to a water remediation company to dry out the affected areas, which made the whole situation much easier to handle. I really appreciated the professionalism and friendliness they showed throughout the process. Overall, a very good experience and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again or recommend them.
The entire experience was great from start to finish. It started with a phone call with Cameron. He gave me an estimate and when I mentioned I was getting estimates from other businesses he provided me with several questions to ask them. Next step was an in person estimate. Cole came out, gave an estimate then emailed me what we had discussed. When Cole came out with one other person (I forget his name) they were early, finished the work soner than they said, cleaned up then the bill was what we were quoted. Great service, great people and reasonable prices. I would recommend them to everyone adn will use the again when we need them.
I called Plumb Medic after discovering water in my garage. The owner, Cameron, came to my home at 8:30pm and detected a slab leak behind the water heater. Repairs were made the next day. Cameron is very personable and professional. I highly recommend him and his team for all plumbing needs.
Such great service. Knowledgeable, friendly and honest. Will definitely call them anytime I need a plumber.
Have been using Plumb Medic last 2 years and very satisfied. Cole was excellent. Strongly recommend!
Plumb Medic is absolutely the best. I’ve used them for multiple services and repairs, and every experience has been consistently excellent. Their communication is clear and timely, and the entire team is professional from start to finish. They’re honest, knowledgeable, and I always feel confident the work is done right. Truly the only plumbing company I trust and continue to use. Highly recommend!
Quick and responsive, friendly and helpful. Best plumber experience ever. 100% recommend.
Cameron and the team did an awesome job with our replumb. In and out in a day, competitive pricing, and they were great to work with throughout the process. Highly recommend
One of the most professional and efficient companies I’ve ever worked with. They came in and diagnosed the problem and got to work immediately. I can’t recommend them enough.
I would highly recommend!!! Cain and Eric went way above and beyond to help us out in our situation. They were very professional, knowledgeable, kind and answered all of our questions and concerns! I can not recommend them enough!
Cameron and his team have helped me out many times over the years, from leaks to running toilets and most recently, the replacement of my water heater. They’re always prompt, thorough and super respectful, their quotes are clear and transparent and they do a wonderful job explaining everything so you know exactly what you’re getting. I never feel like I’m being upsold or pressured into anything, it genuinely feels like they care - like it’s a friend or family member helping out. Their work is great too! Will hire again and again 😁
Cain and his brother Eric did an amazing job. I called Cameron and he was able to get someone out quickly despite a busy schedule. Honest, professional, on time, and no unnecessary repairs. Plus excellent pricing. All around the best —the only plumbing company I recommend.
They came when they said they would and the plumber was very nice and took care of it in the most efficient way possible, so there wasn't any superfluous charges. I highly recommend this company!
Reliable, clean, quick, fair priced. Thank you Plumb Medic for helping us! 🙂
Cameron and Corey did a fantastic job replacing my tankless hot water heater. Everything was explained to me.
We have used Plumb Medic several times over the years for our plumbing needs. Cameron and his team have always been honest and professional. Recently we had a toilet installed in which Cameron himself came out and installed. He arrived within the window he promised given the busy holiday season, which is extremely rare these days. There were some defects with toilet we purchased from Home Depot, which caused the install to take longer than expected. He had mentioned prior to coming out that his kid had a Christmas program that day, but should be able to install the toilet in time. Due to the toilet defect I’m pretty sure he missed his kid’s performance, which killed me inside. I wished he would have told me, because I would have told him to go and come back tomorrow. This just proves Cameron’s dedication to his craft and his customers. We appreciate him and his family for his dedication and highly recommend him and his team to anyone who has plumbing needs. Thank you again Cameron and we wish you and your family a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Great response, communication, work and reasonable price. On site within a couple of hours for a service main break. Ask for Cole.
The gentleman that came was awesome! He explain everything he was looking at and how much it would cost beforehand. He told me if it was too much that he could break it down to what should he done first. He worked office fly and checked everything to make sure all was done correctly
Cameron and team are great guys and have always been good to finish projects and help in emergencies. I have used them to finish out a laundry room project, replace toilets, replace a water heater and fix a mainline break to my house. They have always been quick and fair! I have tried several companies and plumbmedic has always treated my emergencies as if it was their own home emergencies. Can’t go wrong with this company.
Great experience! Cole from plumb medic did a thorough assessment of the issue and explained everything in details.
Cam and Jesse went above and beyond for us. From the initial call they were professional and courteous while walking me through what needed to be done on my basement rough in. The bid was very fair and they showed up on time and completed the job quicker than I expected. No corners were cut and the job was meticulously done. They also replaced my hot water heater. I can’t say enough about the Plumb Medic. It is very refreshing to work with a company like theirs. I highly recommend Plumb Medic for any of your plumbing needs.
Used them 3 times, always show up on time, fixed the issue and their prices are great.

Burst Pipe Repair in Woodstock, GA
Pipes burst for several reasons, and identifying the cause helps prevent repeat failures. Freezing temperatures are the most dramatic cause; water expands as it freezes, splitting pipes that cannot accommodate the volume change. Even brief cold snaps in Georgia cause burst pipes when uninsulated lines run through attics, crawl spaces, or exterior walls. High water pressure stresses pipes over time, eventually exceeding their burst strength at weak points. Corrosion from old galvanized steel or aggressive water chemistry weakens pipe walls until they fail. Physical damage from nails, screws, or shifting structures can puncture lines unexpectedly. Tree roots invading buried pipes cause cracks that grow into bursts. Each cause demands a different repair approach.
Locating the burst is critical before any repair work begins. Water often appears far from the actual failure point, traveling along framing or pipe runs before becoming visible. Plumb Medic uses electronic leak detection, thermal imaging, and pressure testing to pinpoint the source accurately. Cutting unnecessary holes in walls or ceilings adds to repair costs and inconvenience. We minimize access points by locating problems precisely. Slab leaks under concrete floors require specialized equipment to detect without breaking up the slab. Our technicians have the training and tools to find leaks fast, even when the visible signs are confusing.
Material selection for repair affects long-term reliability. Copper repairs use sweated joints with lead-free solder for permanent connections. PEX is increasingly common for repairs because of its flexibility, freeze resistance, and ease of installation. CPVC connections use solvent welding and require dry conditions for proper bonding. Galvanized steel pipes are typically replaced rather than patched because of widespread internal corrosion. Polybutylene pipes, common in homes built between the late 1970s and mid-1990s, are notorious for failures and usually warrant whole-house replacement. Plumb Medic recommends materials based on the existing system, water quality, and long-term durability. We never use cheap fittings that will fail again in a few years.
Frozen pipe situations require specific repair techniques and prevention measures. After repair, addressing the freezing cause prevents recurring failures. Insulating exposed pipes is the most common protection, though cabinet doors left open during cold snaps also help in some situations. Pipes running through unconditioned attics or crawl spaces need extra attention. Heat tape or heat cables can protect particularly vulnerable lines. Plumb Medic identifies vulnerable runs during repair visits and recommends appropriate protection. Cold weather emergencies are common during Georgia winters, and we are prepared for them. Our team has handled many burst pipe calls during freezing weather across Cherokee County.
High water pressure is a common but often overlooked cause of pipe failures. Residential systems should typically operate between 40 and 80 PSI, with 60 PSI being ideal. Pressure exceeding 80 PSI stresses pipes, fittings, fixtures, and water heaters constantly. Pressure regulators, also called pressure reducing valves, control incoming municipal pressure to safe levels. Failed regulators cause spikes that can burst pipes at weak points. Plumb Medic checks system pressure during burst pipe calls and identifies regulator issues. Replacing a failed regulator costs far less than ongoing pipe failures. Expansion tanks on closed plumbing systems also help absorb pressure spikes from water heater heating cycles.
Slab leaks present unique challenges for burst pipe repair. Pipes running under concrete slabs can fail from corrosion, ground shifting, or installation defects. Symptoms include unexplained increases in water bills, warm spots on floors, sounds of running water with no fixtures open, and visible water seeping up through the slab. Plumb Medic uses electronic leak detection to locate slab leaks without breaking up the entire floor. Repairs may involve spot repair through limited slab access, rerouting pipes through walls and ceilings to bypass the slab section, or full repipe of the affected line. The right approach depends on pipe age, accessibility, and overall system condition. We explain each option clearly with associated costs.
Pressure testing after every repair confirms the work holds before we leave. We close shutoffs, refill the system, and pressurize each line to verify no further leaks exist. Joints from the new repair get particular attention during this test. We also check connections we did not directly work on, since system pressure restoration sometimes reveals weakened joints elsewhere. Documentation of repair location, materials used, and pressure test results is provided for your records and any insurance claims. Photos before and after the repair support claim documentation. Our reports are detailed enough to satisfy adjusters while remaining clear for homeowners. Final cleanup leaves the work area as we found it.

Most Common Burst Pipe Repair Questions
Burst pipes raise urgent questions about response time, cost, and what homeowners should do immediately. Below are clear answers to the questions Woodstock residents ask most often when facing a burst pipe emergency.
Shut off the main water supply as quickly as possible. The main shutoff valve is usually located where the water line enters the home, often in a basement, crawl space, garage, or utility closet. Outside, there is also a curb stop that can be turned off with a special key if needed. Knowing the location of your main shutoff before an emergency saves precious minutes when seconds matter. Turning off the main stops the flow of water to all leaks throughout the house. Every minute the water continues running adds to repair costs and damage.
After shutting off the water, address electrical safety immediately. Water and electricity create serious shock and fire hazards. If water is near outlets, light fixtures, or the electrical panel, turn off power to the affected area at the circuit breaker. Do not enter standing water near energized electrical components. Call a licensed plumber and document the damage with photos before moving items. Insurance companies expect this documentation for claims. Move valuables, electronics, and important papers out of the affected area if it is safe to do so.
Call Plumb Medic at (470) 384-9762 for immediate response. Our 24/7 emergency line connects you with a licensed plumber who can dispatch help quickly. While waiting, drain the system by opening faucets and flushing toilets to reduce water remaining in the pipes. This minimizes the water that drains out when the burst section is exposed. Towels, buckets, and tarps help contain water that has already escaped. Note the location of obvious water signs, since this information helps the plumber locate the burst faster. Our trucks are stocked for burst pipe repairs of every common type.
Burst pipe repair costs vary based on location, accessibility, and the extent of the damage. A simple repair on an exposed pipe in a basement or utility room may run $300 to $600 including materials and labor. Repairs requiring drywall removal to access the pipe typically range from $500 to $1,200, depending on how many access points are needed. Slab leaks under concrete floors cost more, often $1,500 to $4,000, because of the specialized equipment and labor involved. Whole-section repipes after major failures can run $2,000 to $5,000 or more.
Several factors affect the final cost beyond the basic repair. After-hours emergency response carries higher rates, though Plumb Medic remains transparent about pricing. Pipe material matters; copper repairs cost more than PEX in most cases due to material costs. Multiple burst points increase labor time and material needs. Hidden damage discovered during repair, like rotted wood or mold growth, adds to the project scope. Code upgrades may be required when significant pipe sections are replaced. Plumb Medic provides upfront pricing before starting work, so you know what to expect.
Insurance often covers burst pipe repairs and resulting water damage, particularly when freezing causes the failure. Homeowner policies typically cover sudden and accidental water damage, including burst pipes. Plumb Medic provides documentation that supports insurance claims, including photos, detailed reports, and itemized invoices. Wisetack financing is available for repairs not covered by insurance or for situations where claims are still processing. The diagnostic fee is waived when we handle the repair, which keeps overall costs lower. Military and senior discounts apply to all service calls. Honest, transparent pricing is part of how we operate.
Insulating exposed pipes is the most effective prevention against freezing-related bursts. Pipes in attics, crawl spaces, garages, exterior walls, and unheated basements are most vulnerable. Foam pipe insulation is inexpensive and easy to install on exposed runs. Heat tape or heat cables provide active protection on particularly vulnerable lines. During cold snaps, opening cabinet doors allows warm air to reach pipes under sinks. Letting faucets drip slightly during freezing weather keeps water moving and prevents complete freeze-ups. Sealing gaps where cold air enters helps maintain warmer temperatures around pipes.
Maintaining proper water pressure protects pipes year-round. Pressure exceeding 80 PSI stresses the entire system, increasing burst risk over time. A pressure regulator at the main supply controls incoming municipal pressure to safe levels. Plumb Medic checks system pressure during service calls and recommends regulator service or replacement when needed. Expansion tanks on closed systems absorb pressure spikes from water heater cycles. Regular plumbing inspections catch developing problems before they cause failures. Annual pressure checks take only minutes but provide significant protection.
Replacing aging pipe materials prevents many catastrophic failures. Galvanized steel pipes in older homes corrode internally over decades, eventually failing without warning. Polybutylene pipes from the late 1970s through mid-1990s are notorious for sudden failures and should be replaced proactively. Older copper pipes in homes with aggressive water chemistry can develop pinhole leaks that grow into bursts. Plumb Medic evaluates pipe condition during inspections and recommends repipe when materials reach end of life. The cost of planned repiping is far lower than emergency replacement after a major failure. We help customers plan upgrades on their own timeline rather than reacting to crises.
Several pipe materials and locations carry higher burst risk than others. Polybutylene pipes are at the top of the list; these gray plastic pipes were widely used between 1978 and 1995 before manufacturers withdrew them due to widespread failures. Polybutylene reacts with chlorinated water over time, becoming brittle and cracking unexpectedly. Galvanized steel pipes from older homes corrode internally, gradually weakening until bursts occur. The corrosion typically starts at threaded joints, which are also stress points in the system. Both materials warrant proactive replacement.
Pipe location significantly affects burst risk. Exposed pipes in unheated spaces freeze most often during cold weather. Attics, crawl spaces, exterior walls, and unheated garages all create vulnerability. Pipes near exterior wall penetrations, like hose bibb connections, are particularly at risk during freezing. Slab pipes can burst from ground shifting, corrosion, or installation defects, with leaks appearing as warm floor spots or unexplained water bills. Pipes in old homes that have been frozen and thawed multiple times develop weak spots even when no visible damage exists.
Connection points and fittings tend to fail more often than pipe runs themselves. Threaded joints concentrate stress, especially where dissimilar metals meet without dielectric unions. Push-fit fittings can fail if installed improperly or without proper pipe preparation. Soldered copper joints fail when heat was insufficient or flux was contaminated during installation. Plumb Medic evaluates all of these failure modes during repair visits. We replace fittings that show wear, install dielectric unions where required, and verify connections meet code. Quality installation work prevents many burst failures down the road. Our experience across thousands of repairs informs every recommendation.
Most burst pipe repairs can be completed within 2 to 4 hours from arrival, depending on accessibility and complexity. Simple repairs on exposed pipes in basements or utility rooms often finish in under 2 hours. Repairs requiring drywall removal, ceiling access, or slab work take longer. Locating the burst is sometimes the most time-consuming part, especially when water has traveled away from the actual failure point. Plumb Medic uses electronic leak detection equipment to find leaks quickly and minimize exploratory damage.
Plumb Medic dispatches emergency response 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Most calls receive a technician within an hour or two, often sooner during business hours. Our trucks carry stocked materials for common repairs, so we rarely need to leave for parts. Specialty fittings or unusual pipe materials may require a parts run, but most repairs proceed without delay. The combination of fast response and well-equipped trucks gets your water restored quickly. Cherokee County and surrounding service areas are within our standard response zone.
Drying and damage restoration take longer than the plumbing repair itself in many cases. After we stop the leak and complete pipe repair, water damage restoration companies handle drying, mold prevention, and structural repair. Plumb Medic can recommend trusted restoration partners if needed. We coordinate with restoration teams to ensure plumbing access without disrupting their work. Insurance claims for water damage typically cover both the plumbing repair and restoration costs. Our detailed documentation supports the entire claim process. The total restoration timeline depends on damage extent, but the immediate water threat is stopped within hours of our arrival.
Most homeowner insurance policies cover sudden and accidental burst pipe damage, including water damage to flooring, walls, and contents. Standard coverage applies when the burst is unexpected and not caused by neglect or gradual deterioration. Freezing-related bursts are typically covered if reasonable steps were taken to prevent freezing, like maintaining heat and insulating exposed pipes. Failure to maintain heat in vacant homes or known plumbing problems left unrepaired can affect coverage. Each policy has specific terms, deductibles, and exclusions that affect claims.
Documentation supports successful insurance claims significantly. Photos of damage taken before any cleanup or repair work begins are essential. Plumb Medic provides detailed reports, photos, and itemized invoices that support claim processing. We document the cause of failure when it can be determined, which helps adjusters understand the situation. Coverage usually includes both the plumbing repair and water damage restoration, though policies vary. Some policies exclude certain pipe materials or causes; reviewing your policy before emergencies helps you understand coverage.
Plumb Medic works with homeowners throughout the claims process. Our reports use clear language adjusters can interpret without difficulty. We respond to questions from insurance companies promptly and provide additional documentation when requested. Direct payment arrangements with insurance companies are sometimes possible for restoration work. Wisetack financing covers situations where claims are pending or coverage gaps exist. The diagnostic fee is waived when we handle repairs, regardless of insurance status. Our goal is making the entire process as smooth as possible during a stressful time. Many of our customers have successfully claimed burst pipe damage with our supporting documentation.
Yes, burst pipes can cause significant mold and structural damage if water exposure continues for more than 24 to 48 hours. Mold typically begins growing within this window in materials that stay damp, including drywall, carpet padding, wood framing, and insulation. Hidden moisture inside walls or under flooring creates ideal conditions for mold growth that may not become visible for weeks. Structural damage occurs when wood framing absorbs water, swelling and weakening over time. Subfloors, ceiling joists, and wall studs all suffer from prolonged water exposure.
Quick water damage response limits both mold and structural problems significantly. Drying the affected area within 24 hours is the goal, which often requires professional restoration equipment. Industrial dehumidifiers, air movers, and moisture meters help identify and dry hidden moisture pockets. Removing wet drywall, insulation, and flooring may be necessary when materials cannot be dried in place. Plumb Medic stops the water immediately, but restoration companies handle the drying phase. Coordination between plumbing repair and restoration teams matters for minimizing damage. We can recommend trusted restoration partners when needed.
Long-term effects of unaddressed water damage include health and structural concerns. Mold spores cause respiratory problems, allergic reactions, and other health issues for occupants. Black mold, often associated with chronic water exposure, requires professional remediation when found. Structural wood rot can compromise floors, ceilings, and walls over months or years. Insurance claims sometimes get denied if damage is allowed to worsen without prompt action. Plumb Medic emphasizes fast response and thorough documentation precisely because of these compounding effects. Calling immediately when a burst occurs protects your home, your health, and your insurance coverage. Our 24/7 availability ensures help is always close.
The main water shutoff valve location varies by home but generally falls in predictable spots. In homes with basements, the valve is usually on the wall where the water line enters from outside, often near the front of the house. Crawl space homes often have the shutoff near the access opening or where the line comes through the foundation. Slab homes typically have the shutoff in the garage, utility room, or near the water heater. Some homes have the main shutoff outside in a buried valve box, requiring a special key for operation.
Identifying the valve before an emergency saves critical time when seconds matter. Most main shutoffs are gate valves or ball valves on the cold water line just after it enters the house. Gate valves have a round handle that turns multiple times to fully close. Ball valves have a lever that turns 90 degrees, with the handle parallel to the pipe meaning open and perpendicular meaning closed. Some valves are stiff from disuse and may need wrench assistance to operate. Exercising the valve once or twice a year keeps it functional.
Outside curb stops provide a backup shutoff option when interior valves fail or cannot be reached. These valves are buried in valve boxes near the property line, often by the sidewalk or driveway. A curb stop key or similar long-handled tool reaches down to operate the valve. Water utilities often have specific rules about residents using curb stops, with some requiring utility crews to operate them. In emergencies, however, stopping water flow takes priority. Plumb Medic identifies and labels main shutoffs during service calls when customers ask. We also recommend installing accessible shutoffs in homes where the existing valve is hard to reach. Easy access to shutoffs is one of the most valuable plumbing improvements a homeowner can make.
